The new Castlevania is on Nintendo’s newest console, but only through the back door. Here’s what you get on Switch 2.

Is Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on Switch 2?

Only as the original Switch version. Konami released Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on Oct. 15, 2026, on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox on PC and Steam, and it hasn’t announced a dedicated Switch 2 version. Nintendo’s store lists the Switch version as supported on Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch.

Konami lists 30 fps on Switch and 60 fps on the other platforms, and it hasn’t published separate figures for Switch 2. On Switch, the Standard Edition needs 4 GB of storage and the Midnight Edition 6 GB, compared with 8 GB and 10 GB elsewhere.

How much is it, and is there a physical copy?

The Switch version costs $29.99 on the Nintendo eShop in the US, the same as on Steam. The Midnight Edition costs $39.99 and adds the Digital Sound & Art Gallery, a separate app with more than 100 pieces of artwork and the game’s music, plus three in-game items: the Trevor Style Costume, the Sypha Style Costume and the Family’s Grace relic.

The Standard Edition is digital only. The Midnight Edition also comes as a physical copy on Switch, PS5 and Xbox, and Konami notes that the physical version requires an additional download from the online store. Konami’s early purchase and pre-order bonus is an Alucard Style Costume.

What kind of game is it?

A 2D action-exploration game from Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin, set 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. In Paris in 1499, Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, takes up the Vampire Killer whip as monsters pour out of a castle and set the city on fire.

The whip doubles as a way to swing around levels, and defeated bosses, from Death, Medusa and Carmilla to new ones such as Joan of Arc, are sealed into tarot cards as Arcana that unlock spells and special moves. Weapons span seven categories, and relics add offensive and defensive effects. The ESRB rates it Teen.

Any launch problems?

On PC, yes. Konami’s known issues notice of Oct. 14 said the game could fail to launch with V-Sync off and an unlimited frame rate, and update 1.1.3 on Oct. 16 addressed black screens on high refresh rate monitors, though Konami said the issue may still occur in some setups. The notice also mentioned UI elements partly off-screen on Steam Deck. It didn’t list any Switch issues.
