Jak and Daxter 4 release date: Naughty Dog hasn't announced a new Jak game in 21 years
Jak and Daxter 4 doesn't have a release date, because Naughty Dog hasn't announced it. The series began on PS2 in 2001, Naughty Dog's last game in it, Jak X: Combat Racing, came out in 2005, and the studio says its next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for PS5. You can still play all four of Naughty Dog's Jak games on PS4, where they're $39.99 as a bundle.
Jak’s last Naughty Dog adventure is 21 years old, and fans still ask for a fourth. Here’s what’s official about a new Jak and Daxter game.
When does Jak and Daxter 4 come out?
There’s no release date, because Naughty Dog and Sony haven’t announced Jak and Daxter 4 or any new Jak game. There’s no trailer or platform, and dates and concept videos shared online under that name aren’t official.
Naughty Dog’s last game in the series, Jak X: Combat Racing, came out in 2005. By simple arithmetic, that’s 21 years as of 2026. For other long-awaited PlayStation sequels, see our Uncharted 5 release date page.
What Naughty Dog is making instead
Naughty Dog says its next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, in development for PS5. It doesn’t have a release date yet; see our Intergalactic release date page. The studio still calls Jak and Daxter one of its iconic series, alongside Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted and The Last of Us.
The four Jak games so far
The series started in 2001 with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy on PS2, a colorful platformer where Daxter did all the talking. Jak II followed on Oct. 14, 2003, and gave Jak a voice for the first time, along with a darker world, a hoverboard and a morph gun. Jak 3 came out in 2004 and sent the pair into a desert wasteland with dune buggies, and Jak X: Combat Racing turned the series into a combat racer in 2005.
How to play Jak and Daxter now
All four games are on PS4 as PS2 versions with 1080p up-rendering and Trophies. Jak II, Jak 3 and Jak X arrived on the PlayStation Store on Dec. 6, 2017, after The Precursor Legacy earlier that year. Jak II, Jak 3 and Jak X are $14.99 each, and the Jak and Daxter Bundle with all four is $39.99. Before that, the first three games came out as the Jak and Daxter Collection on PS3 in February 2012 and on PS Vita in June 2013.
