Valve’s handheld costs more than it used to. Here’s what the Steam Deck costs in 2026 and why the price went up.
How much is a Steam Deck in 2026?
$789 for the Steam Deck OLED 512GB and $949 for the 1TB model in the US. Those are the two versions on Valve’s Steam Deck page, and both prices took effect on May 27, 2026, when the Steam Deck came back in stock. Valve’s post lists only the new prices, not the old ones. Valve also sells Certified Refurbished Steam Decks on Steam for up to 20% off, with a one-year warranty.
Why Valve raised the price
Valve blamed rising memory and storage costs. It said the Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed and that the new prices reflect component costs and global logistics problems across the industry. Valve had already warned on Feb. 4, 2026, that memory and storage shortages forced it to revisit pricing for its new hardware. The same squeeze pushed up console prices in 2026, as our Xbox Series X price page shows.
Steam Deck prices in Canada, Europe, the UK and Australia
Valve’s post lists new prices in six currencies. The 512GB model costs C$1,129 in Canada, €779 in the eurozone, £649 in the UK, A$1,199 in Australia and 3,279 złoty in Poland. The 1TB model costs C$1,349, €919, £779, A$1,429 and 3,879 złoty. European and UK prices include VAT. In Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, Valve sells the Steam Deck through its partner Komodo.
Docking Station and Limited Edition White
The Steam Deck Docking Station costs $79 on Steam, £69 in the UK, €89 in the eurozone and C$109 in Canada.
Valve’s last special model was the Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White, which went on sale on Nov. 18, 2024, for $679. It had the same specs as the 1TB model in white and gray, and Valve said it wouldn’t make more once it sold out. The regular 1TB model costs $270 more than that limited edition did.
Steam Deck vs. Steam Machine and Steam Frame
The Steam Deck costs less than Valve’s two other big devices. Steam Machine, its living-room PC, costs $1,049 with 512GB, and the Steam Frame headset costs $1,059, as our Steam Machine price and Steam Frame price pages explain. Valve hasn’t announced a new handheld, and our Steam Deck 2 release date page tracks what it has said.
This page is updated as soon as Valve changes Steam Deck prices or puts the handheld on sale.
