FSR 4 on RX 6000: AMD's FSR 4.1 upscaling reaches Radeon RX 6000 cards with Adrenalin 26.10.1
AMD made FSR Upscaling 4.1, its machine learning upscaler, available on Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics, in desktops and laptops, on Oct. 20, 2026, in the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver. The RX 6000 generation, first released in 2020, runs an optimized version of the INT8 model AMD built for the RX 7000 Series, which got FSR 4.1 in July 2026. AMD says the result is a big jump in image quality over FSR 3.1, the best upscaler these cards had before. The same driver adds FSR 4.1 for Ryzen AI Max and Ryzen AI 9 processors, a lighter model covers Ryzen Z2 handhelds like the ROG Xbox Ally X, and Xbox Series X and S consoles get it soon. RX 6000 cards get the upscaler only: ML frame generation and the rest of FSR "Redstone" stay on RX 9000.

FSR 4 has reached the Radeon RX 6000, a graphics card generation AMD launched in 2020. Here’s what changed, which hardware gets it and how to switch it on.
What AMD released on Oct. 20
AMD shipped FSR Upscaling 4.1 for Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics, from the RX 6400 to the RX 6900 models in desktops and laptops, in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1, released on Oct. 20, 2026. FSR 4 launched in 2025 exclusively on RX 9000 cards, and AMD brought version 4.1 to the RX 7000 Series in July 2026. For RX 6000, AMD optimized the INT8 model it originally built for RX 7000, so the older generation runs it too.
AMD has also renamed the feature. FSR 4 is called FSR Upscaling, and some games still show the FSR 4 name in their menus.
What FSR 4.1 changes on RX 6000. Before this driver, the best upscaler on RX 6000 was FSR 3.1, which works without machine learning. FSR 4.1 reconstructs sharp images from lower-resolution frames with a trained model, and AMD calls the gain in image quality over FSR 3.1 a major upgrade that needs no new parts. AMD’s announcement doesn’t give frame rate figures for RX 6000 cards.
The upgrade covers upscaling only. The rest of FSR “Redstone” needs an RX 9000 card:

Ryzen AI Max covers laptops like the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and TUF A14 and Ryzen AI Halo mini PCs. On handhelds, AMD names the ROG Xbox Ally X, and the ROG Xbox Ally X20 uses the same Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip. How to turn on FSR 4.1
- Install Adrenalin 26.10.1 or newer.
- In games with FSR 4 built in, select FSR in the graphics menu, where it can still carry the FSR 4 name.
- In games with FSR 3.1 or newer, close the game, open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, click Gaming, then Graphics, and switch on AMD FSR Upscaling.
- Launch the game, turn on FSR in its graphics settings and pick a quality preset.
AMD counts more than 400 supported games.
