Snap Specs cost $2,195 with a $200 deposit, and the standalone AR glasses ship in fall 2026

Snap's Specs augmented reality glasses cost $2,195 with Wi-Fi and $2,395 with Wi-Fi and cellular, and pre-orders on Specs.com in the US, the UK and France take a refundable deposit: $200 in the US, £150 in the UK and €170 in France. Snap says the glasses ship starting in fall 2026, and buyers pay the rest of the price when their pair is ready. Specs are standalone see-through glasses with a 51-degree field of view, two Snapdragon processors, Snap OS and up to four hours of mixed use, or up to 20 hours with the charging case. On Oct. 20, Snap named Robert Downey Jr. the honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer of Specs.

Snap’s first consumer AR glasses cost $2,195, and the first pairs ship this fall. Here’s what Specs cost, how the deposit works and what’s inside.

How much are Snap Specs?

$2,195 for the Wi-Fi model and $2,395 for Wi-Fi and cellular, on Specs.com:

Pre-orders take a $200 refundable deposit (£150 in the UK, €170 in France), with a limit of five pairs per customer. Specs.com offers Klarna financing in select markets, free shipping, free returns within 14 days and a one-year limited warranty.

When do Specs come out?

Snap unveiled Specs at Augmented World Expo on June 16, 2026, and opened pre-orders the same day. At its Sept. 16 launch event in Los Angeles, Snap added the $2,395 bundle with a cellular charging case, with Verizon as its US carrier partner. The glasses are expected to ship starting in fall 2026 in the US, the UK and France. Snap contacts pre-order customers closer to the shipping window, and they pay the remaining balance to complete the order. Expected first deliveries: December 2026 at the latest, our estimate, based on Snap’s fall window.

What can Specs do?

Specs are standalone augmented reality glasses running Snap OS, with no puck and no cable. You control them with voice and hand gestures, and apps, called Lenses, put digital objects into the room around you:

  • a large virtual screen for shows and games;
  • a shared whiteboard for sketching;
  • heads-up directions;
  • shared games such as chess, table tennis and dominoes;
  • Harry Potter and NBA Lenses.

Snap compares the field of view to a 115-inch screen about 10 feet away. Custom prescription lenses from -8 to +2 diopters come from a certified partner, and the box holds the glasses, the charging case, a cable, a cleaning cloth and a nose pad kit.

Robert Downey Jr. and Specs

On Oct. 20, 2026, Snap named Robert Downey Jr. the honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer of Specs. The role covers Lens experiences, original video episodes, hardware and in-person experiences, and the first episodes went up on Specs.com and YouTube the same day. Snap’s Specs First Look pop-up at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles has offered hands-on demos since early October.

Specs vs. Meta Ray-Ban Display

Meta’s Ray-Ban Display costs $799 with the Neural Band, so Specs cost close to three times as much. Meta’s glasses show their display in the right lens, while Specs run Lenses on their own, with a 51-degree field of view. For Apple’s plans, see our Apple Glasses page.

FAQ

How does the Specs deposit work?

You pay a $200 refundable deposit for each pair, up to five pairs. The deposit isn’t an order confirmation, and you pay the remaining balance when Snap contacts you closer to the shipping window. Snap refunds the deposit in full if you cancel before the order is completed.

Do Snap Specs need a phone?

Specs are fully standalone, with no puck and no cable, Snap says. A companion app runs on iPhone, and the cellular model connects through a 5G-capable charging case that needs a separate Verizon data plan in the US.

Can I get Specs with prescription lenses?

Yes. A certified partner makes custom single-vision lenses from -8 to +2 diopters, shipped separately from the glasses.
