Pokémon HOME is back online, and so are Pokémon Champions and Pokémon Sleep. Here’s what happened on Oct. 21, how long the apps were down and what players get.

Is Pokémon HOME down? Pokémon HOME is back online. The Pokémon Company’s support page, updated at 4 p.m. JST on Oct. 22, or 3 a.m. ET, says no titles remain in emergency maintenance. The same notice says The Pokémon Company runs further maintenance as needed and posts progress there and on each game’s official X account.

One thing is still offline: select inquiry forms for the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

What went down and when. The Pokémon Company took three games and apps offline on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026:

  • Pokémon HOMEThe cloud service that stores Pokémon across Switch and mobile games.
  • Pokémon ChampionsThe battle game for Switch, Switch 2 and mobile, which started unplanned maintenance at 11:00 UTC, or 7 a.m. ET, with no scheduled end time.
  • Pokémon SleepThe sleep-tracking app for iOS and Android.

The Japanese Pokémon Champions account set the start for 8 p.m. JST, the same moment.

The Pokémon Sleep team posted a Maintenance Complete notice on Oct. 22, after stability fixes and an app update to version 3.9.0. Every player gets an apology gift in the in-game Gift Box at a later date. The Pokémon Company hasn’t announced compensation for HOME or Champions.

The Pokémon Company hasn’t named a cause. The shutdown came on the same day the PHP project, which maintains the programming language behind a large share of web servers, published a critical security advisory. The two flaws, CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619, let an attacker run code on a server through an unauthenticated web request, before any of the site’s own code runs.

The PHP project fixed both in PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35 and told every PHP user to update at once. The Pokémon Company hasn’t reported any breach of its games or accounts.

The advisory covers every PHP setup that serves web requests, including PHP-FPM, Apache with mod_php, php-cgi, FrankenPHP and LiteSpeed, and rates mod_php as the most exposed. Linux distributions got the patches in advance, and the PHP security team also shipped minimal fixes for the retired 7.4, 8.0 and 8.1 branches, a rare step that shows how serious the flaws are.

The fastest check is The Pokémon Company’s support page, which lists every title in emergency maintenance, together with the official X account of each game. Pokémon Champions posted its start time on both its English and Japanese accounts. When HOME shows a connection error while the support page lists no maintenance, the problem sits on the player’s side: restart the app, check the Switch or phone connection and install the latest HOME update from the Nintendo eShop, the App Store or Google Play.

With the apps back, HOME users can move and store Pokémon again, including for the games covered on our Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC page. Champions players lost about a day of ranked battles on the road to the Pokémon World Championships 2027 in Singapore, where Champions is one of the three competition games.

This page is updated as soon as The Pokémon Company announces compensation for HOME or Champions or another maintenance window.
