Pokémon UNITE shuts down on March 23, 2027, and gem sales have already stopped

Pokémon UNITE has an end date, and two things you’d want to know about it are already in motion: the gem store is closed, and a download deadline is coming. Here’s the full schedule and what survives.

When does Pokémon UNITE shut down?

Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, on both the Switch and mobile versions. The game launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, so it closes after less than six years.

These times cover the global version. The separate mainland China version closes earlier, on Jan. 28, 2027, according to press reports, and we haven’t seen Tencent’s own notice.

What has already stopped? Two things ended on Oct. 27, 2026, at 05:00 UTC (1 a.m. ET). Aeos gem sales are over, and the gems you hold work until service ends. UNITE Club takes no new members and renews nobody automatically, and current members keep their benefits until the end of the period they’ve paid for.

What does the Nov. 12 update add? The update lands on Nov. 12, 2026, at 04:00 UTC, which is 11 p.m. ET on Nov. 11. The event runs until service ends.

As The Pokémon Company describes its plan, the Library lets you visit the Practice Area and view Holowear, Unite licenses, Trainer fashion, emblems, achievements and tournament records once the servers are gone. The assets download during normal play or the first time you open the feature.

Finish that first download before March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, or the Library won’t work at all. Items you collect after the download get added automatically. The company’s own warnings are worth reading twice: Library data generally can’t move to a new device, lost data can’t be counted on to come back, and support ends with the service. It also recommends finishing boost emblem merges and held item upgrades before the deadline, because those become view-only.

The Japanese notice promises one, and the English notices don’t mention it. The Japanese text says unused paid gems get refunded after service ends, through a form shown in the game, with details posted on the official site after shutdown. Bonus gems and UNITE Club gems don’t count. The same notice tells players with unused paid gems not to delete the game or the app until the refund is complete.

The Pokémon Company hasn’t said whether this covers players outside Japan. Until it does, keeping the game installed costs you nothing. Your paid gem balance sits behind the plus button at the top right of the home screen.

Yes. The Pokémon Company says Aeos Crown 2027 goes ahead as announced, with online qualifiers opening region by region from Dec. 5, 2026. The offline finals are set for March 20 and 21, 2027, in Tokyo, with 32 teams, which puts the last match two days before the servers close. UNITE isn’t part of the main event in our Pokémon Worlds 2027 guide, so Tokyo is the game’s farewell on the published calendar.
