iPad Pro M6 release date: not announced, and the M5 iPad Pro starts at $1,199 in the US

Apple hasn't announced an iPad Pro with the M6 chip, so there's no release date, price or spec sheet. The iPad Pro Apple sells runs on M5: Apple announced it on Oct. 15, 2025, and released it on Oct. 22, 2025, at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch. As of Oct. 19, 2026, Apple's US store lists the same models from $1,199 and $1,499, $200 more than at launch. M6, Apple's first 2-nanometer chip, is so far only in the Mac mini. Apple's last three iPad Pro chips came 17 to 19 months apart, which points to spring 2027 for the next one, and reports say Apple is preparing new 11-inch and 13-inch models for spring 2027. Apple hasn't confirmed it. Expected price for an iPad Pro with M6: from about $1,199 for the 11-inch model, our estimate.

Apple hasn’t announced an iPad Pro with M6. There’s no release date and no price. The iPad Pro you can buy runs on M5, and Apple’s US store has charged $200 more for it since late June 2026, from $1,199 for the 11-inch model.

When will the iPad Pro M6 come out?

Apple hasn’t said. Its own launch history shows a steady rhythm of about a year and a half between iPad Pro chips. Apple announced the M2 iPad Pro on Oct. 18, 2022, the M4 model on May 7, 2024, and the M5 model on Oct. 15, 2025. Those gaps run 19 and 17 months, and the jump from M1 in April 2021 to M2 took 18.

The same rhythm puts the next iPad Pro around March to May 2027. Reports say Apple is preparing new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models for spring 2027. Apple hasn’t confirmed it. Apple’s Oct. 13 announcements covered home products, not iPads, and our Apple October event 2026 page tracks whether Apple shows anything else before November.

Is there an iPad Pro with M6?

Apple hasn’t released one. M6 arrived on Aug. 25, 2026, in the new Mac mini, Apple’s first product with a 2-nanometer chip, and the Mac mini with M6 went on sale on Sept. 22 from $899. As of Oct. 19, it’s still the only Apple product with M6.

Apple has used the iPad Pro to debut chips before. The M4 appeared first in the iPad Pro in May 2024, months before any Mac got it, and the M5 reached the iPad Pro and the 14-inch MacBook Pro on the same day. This time the Mac mini went first, and Apple hasn’t announced M6 for the MacBook Pro either, as our MacBook Pro M6 page explains.

What M6 would bring to the iPad Pro

In the Mac mini, Apple says M6 has a 12-core CPU with two super cores, four performance cores and six efficiency cores, up from 10 cores in M5. It also has a 12-core GPU, up from 10, a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and 170GB/s of memory bandwidth, about 10% more than M5. Apple says multithreaded performance is up to 1.2x faster than M5 and peak GPU compute for AI is nearly 30% higher.

Reports say the next iPad Pro keeps the current design and focuses on the inside, including a vapor chamber for cooling, and that Apple could use a chip newer than M6 if it’s ready in time. Apple hasn’t confirmed any of it.

IPad Pro price: $1,199, up from $999 at launch

Apple launched the M5 iPad Pro at $999 for the 11-inch Wi-Fi model and $1,299 for the 13-inch. Its US store kept those prices through June 24, 2026, and has listed $1,199 and $1,499 since late June, according to archived copies of Apple’s store page. Apple hasn’t announced the change in a press release.

Every configuration went up by the same $200. On Oct. 19, the 11-inch model costs $1,399 with 512GB, $1,799 with 1TB and $2,299 with 2TB, and cellular adds $200. The 13-inch model runs from $1,499 to $2,899 for 2TB with nano-texture glass and cellular. The iPad mini went the same way, from $499 at launch to $599, as our iPad mini 8 page explains.

Expected price for an iPad Pro with M6: from about $1,199 for the 11-inch model and $1,499 for the 13-inch, our estimate, the prices Apple charges for the M5 models.

The current iPad Pro with M5

The M5 iPad Pro comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, in space black and silver, with 256GB to 2TB of storage. The 256GB and 512GB models have a 9-core CPU and 12GB of memory, and the 1TB and 2TB models get a 10-core CPU and 16GB. Both sizes use an Ultra Retina XDR tandem OLED display with 1,000 nits full-screen and 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness.

The 11-inch model is 5.3 mm thin and the 13-inch 5.1 mm. Apple’s N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and cellular models use Apple’s own C1X modem. Apple rates battery life at up to 10 hours of web browsing or video on Wi-Fi.

The iPad Pro for gaming

Apple pitched M5’s third-generation ray tracing engine at games and 3D work, with up to 1.5x faster ray-traced rendering than the M4 model. The M5 iPad Pro can also drive an external display at up to 120Hz with Adaptive Sync, which Apple says cuts latency in games. It runs iPadOS 27, which Apple released on Sept. 14, 2026, as our iOS 27 page details.

Should you wait for the M6 iPad Pro?

If you need a tablet in the next few months, the M5 model is the newest iPad Pro Apple sells, and nothing newer is announced. Apple’s launch rhythm makes spring 2027 the earliest realistic window for a replacement, and our estimate puts its price at the same $1,199 the M5 model costs.

Accessories carry over within a generation. The M5 iPad Pro works with Apple Pencil Pro and the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, which Apple launched at $299 for 11 inches and $349 for 13 inches. Whether they fit a future model depends on Apple keeping the current size, which it hasn’t confirmed.

This page is updated as soon as Apple announces an iPad Pro with M6 or changes iPad Pro prices.
