Steam player counts: CS2 and Dota 2 both top 1 million on Oct. 25, with 17 more of the most played games

Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 both passed 1 million players on Steam on Sunday. Here are the peaks, chart ranks, records and prices for 19 of the most played games, updated every week.

Valve orders its chart by its own daily measure, and the peak is a separate number, so Rust ranks No. 29 with a higher peak than Warframe at No. 21. No. 4 on the chart is Wallpaper Engine, an app rather than a game.

Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and PUBG

Counter-Strike 2 peaked at 1,338,829 on Oct. 25, up from 1,274,983 on Oct. 23. October’s best day so far, 1,402,441 on Oct. 10, sits about 12% below the October 2025 peak of 1,588,091. The 2026 high is 1,717,624 in March, and the all-time record is 1,818,368 in March 2025. The PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026 runs from Nov. 24 to Dec. 13, with a $1.25 million prize pool. CS2 is free to play, and the optional Prime Status Upgrade costs $14.99.

Dota 2 reached 1,097,854, above its October 2022 peak of 1,038,848, which makes Oct. 25 its best day in more than four years. It also passed 1 million on Oct. 10, 11 and 18, after Valve’s Trove of Terror update on Oct. 6. The all-time record is more than 1.29 million in March 2016.

PUBG: Battlegrounds peaked at 812,708. Update 43.2 lifted it from 643,256 on Oct. 13 to 784,258 on Oct. 14. The 2026 high is 1,290,870 in March, and the record of more than 3.2 million in January 2018 is the highest of any game on Steam. PUBG has been free to play since Jan. 12, 2022.

Deadlock, Call of Duty and Cyberpunk 2077

Deadlock peaked at 267,268, No. 5 for another week. Its record is 303,347 on Oct. 16, 2026, the day the painter hero Violet joined, which is above Team Fortress 2’s all-time Steam peak of 253,997. Valve keeps Deadlock invite only, with the release date to be announced and no price on Steam. We expect it to be free to play, like Valve’s Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2.

Call of Duty climbed from No. 16 to No. 6 with 227,434. Steam counts Modern Warfare 4, Black Ops 7 and Warzone together in one Call of Duty app, so the number covers all three. On Oct. 23, Modern Warfare 4’s launch day, the app peaked at 198,308. Steam sells Modern Warfare 4 for $69.99, and Activision hasn’t announced sales or player totals.

Cyberpunk 2077 jumped from No. 37 to No. 7, the biggest climb of the week, with 187,215, about 51% above its Oct. 23 peak of 124,145, which was already its highest since October 2023. Three things lined up: update 2.5 on Oct. 22, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on Netflix on Oct. 20, and a 70% discount to $17.99 on Steam until Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. ET, down from $59.99.

Apex Legends, WARDOGS and AION 2

Apex Legends peaked at 219,343, No. 8, down from No. 6. October’s best day so far, 238,375, beats October 2025’s best of 181,156 by about 32%. The Season 30 high is 291,356 on Aug. 8, 2026, and the all-time record is 624,473 in February 2023. Apex is free to play.

WARDOGS peaked at 199,595, No. 9. Its record is 428,666 on Sept. 13, 2026, three days after launch, and BULKHEAD says it sold 3 million copies by Sept. 26. Season 2 lifted it from 124,255 on Oct. 14 to 336,202 on Oct. 15. WARDOGS costs $39.99 in early access, on PC only, with consoles to follow in 2028, according to BULKHEAD.

AION 2 peaked at 266,890, No. 10. Its launch record is 397,905 on Oct. 5, 2026, the day of the worldwide free-to-play launch, and NC counted 400,000 active players that day across Steam and its PURPLE launcher. AION 2 is free to play, with an optional membership and a Battle Pass.

Slay the Spire 2 peaked at 99,116, No. 12. October’s best day is 103,573 on Oct. 17, and its lowest day since late July is 84,882 on Oct. 5. The record is more than 574,000 in March 2026. It costs $24.99 in early access.

Rainbow Six Siege peaked at 90,722, No. 16. Operation Split Fire lifted it to 120,267 in September 2026, and the record is more than 200,000 in March 2024. Since Siege X on June 10, 2025, Quick Match and Unranked are free, and Steam sells a $19.99 Elite Edition.

Helldivers 2 climbed from No. 23 to No. 17 with 67,862. Its best day since August came on Oct. 20, at 98,111. The 2026 high is 171,120 in February, and the record is more than 458,000 in February 2024. It costs $39.99.

Warframe held No. 21 with 89,441. Epoch Operation Taubound lifted it from 67,689 on Oct. 14 to 103,173 on Oct. 16, and the record is more than 181,000 in July 2021. Warframe is free to play.

Valheim peaked at 129,594, No. 22. Its 1.0 release pushed it above 307,000 on Sept. 13, 2026, the best day since March 2021, and the record is more than 500,000 in February 2021. It costs $29.99.

Marvel Rivals peaked at 63,667, No. 25. The Avengers: Endgame mode lifted it to 90,838 on the evening of Oct. 23. The 2026 high is 199,788 in January, and the record is more than 640,000 in January 2025. Marvel Rivals is free to play.

Rust peaked at 126,600, No. 29, up from No. 32. The Livestock update lifted it from 85,376 on Sept. 30 to 162,249 on Oct. 3, and the Halloween event runs until Nov. 5. The record is more than 259,000 in January 2025. Rust costs $39.99.

Delta Force peaked at 119,128, No. 36. Its best day in October is 141,973 on Oct. 10, after the 1v1 Duel update, and the record is more than 246,000 in September 2025. Delta Force is free to play.

ARC Raiders peaked at 104,277 and slid from No. 10 to No. 26. Across platforms, it set a record of 960,000 concurrent players in January 2026, as our ARC Raiders player count page shows. It costs $39.99.

Battlefield 6 peaked at 55,226, No. 24, down from No. 19 after its free trial ended on Oct. 20. The Standard Edition is back to $69.99, and the REDSEC battle royale stays free. More on our Battlefield 6 player count page.
