CS2 Rush mode: how the 3v3 mode works, every arena and what else the Rush Hour update added
Rush is a fast-paced 3v3 queued mode that Valve added to Counter-Strike 2 in the Rush Hour update on Sept. 22, 2026. Teams fight through a gauntlet of small battle arenas, picked at random for every match, toward the enemy team's castle, and a team wins a round by controlling the tower after eliminating the other side or when time runs out. Valve's announcement shows 15 arenas, from Spire and Wallbang to King of the Hill and Horseshoe, and its update notes name more rooms, including Convoy and the T and CT castles. Rush is free for every CS2 player, and the same update changed Premier map picks and added silent reloads, new crosshairs and clan tags.

Counter-Strike 2’s Rush mode squeezes the game into small 3v3 fights, and no two matches look the same. Here’s how it works, every arena Valve has shown and the rest of the Rush Hour update.
What is Rush in CS2?
Rush is a fast-paced 3v3 queued mode that Valve added to Counter-Strike 2 on Sept. 22, 2026, in an update it called Rush Hour. It’s free for every player, like the rest of CS2, and the game fills each match with six players, three per side. That puts it between Wingman’s 2v2 and the 5v5 of Premier and Competitive.
Instead of one large map, a Rush match runs through a gauntlet of small battle arenas. The game picks them at random each time you play, so the layout changes from match to match, and the goal is to push all the way to the enemy team’s castle.
How a Rush match works
Each round takes place in one arena. Your team gets a limited budget and limited time, and the round goes to the team that controls the tower once the enemy team is eliminated or the clock runs out. Valve describes the flow as a push and pull: winning rounds moves your team forward through the gauntlet, and the match ends when one team captures the other’s castle.
Valve’s overview shows each arena with spawn zones for the two teams at opposite ends, so every room plays like a short attack-and-defend scenario. Rush keeps your wins on a Rush friends leaderboard, which Valve pitches as bragging rights among your Steam friends rather than a skill rating.
Every Rush arena
Valve’s announcement shows 15 battle arenas: T Assault, Spire, Wallbang, Big Box, CT Assault, Sewer, Dogleg, Drop, Crane, Playhouse, Madhouse, Tunnel, King of the Hill, Marksman and Horseshoe. They range from tight boxes full of cover to round rooms like Sewer and Drop and long corridors like Tunnel.
The update notes name more rooms on the way to the finish: Convoy, the T and CT Castle rooms and the end rooms. Since Sept. 23, the countdown after an elimination in the end rooms and Convoy runs up to 14 seconds instead of 7, which gives the winning team time to take the tower.
Fixes since launch
Valve patched Rush several times in its first weeks. On Sept. 23, it doubled that countdown, made it skip rounds where a team dies to suicides, team kills or disconnects, and cut warmup, freeze time and technical timeouts. On Sept. 24, it added a clearer description of the rules to the loading screen and adjusted when players get kicked for team damage.
Clipping and gap fixes for Rush rooms followed on Sept. 25, Sept. 28, Sept. 30 and Oct. 8, including the T and CT Castle rooms.
Premier map picks changed
The same update changed how Premier matches choose a map. Teams no longer ban down to one: Team 1 picks one map, Team 2 picks two, Team 1 picks a final map, and the game randomly selects one of the four. Valve’s reasoning is that players who put time into learning a map deserve a chance to benefit from it.

Silent reloads, quiet scopes and bloodier impacts
Hold the reload key and you reload silently, at the cost of a noticeably slower reload. Unscoping a sniper rifle no longer makes a sound, and Valve made blood and bullet impacts much more visible. Later patches stopped players from using silent reloads to reload faster or fire shotguns faster than normal, and on Oct. 8 Valve cut the AUG's reload time by half a second.

New crosshairs and clan tags
A new Crosshair/Scopes tab in Settings brings crosshairs measured in pixels that rescale with your resolution, new styles and a new default, Dynamic Quad, which shows your weapon’s real accuracy. Valve has since added an outline color, a Static Quadrant style and grenade crosshairs during freeze time for quick smokes.

Clan tags are back too: pick one of your Steam Community Groups in your player profile, and its tag shows next to your name and, since Sept. 23, in death notices.
Starjunk 95 and what’s next
The update added the Industrial Sunset Memories Music Kit by Starjunk 95, in standard and StatTrak versions, and stickers for the C4. On Oct. 14, Valve improved the demo and replay viewer with a download progress bar and click-and-drag camera controls.

For CS2’s pro scene, PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 runs from Oct. 24 to 31, as our PGL Masters Bucharest page details, and the next Major is the PGL CS2 Major Singapore 2026, from Nov. 24 to Dec. 13, as our CS2 Major Singapore page explains.
This page is updated as soon as Valve adds new Rush arenas or changes how the mode works.
