Minecraft Dungeons 2 on Switch 2: $29.99 digital, a $49.99 physical Deluxe Edition and cross-play

Minecraft Dungeons II launched on Switch 2 on day one, alongside every other platform. Here’s what you get and what it costs.

When did Minecraft Dungeons 2 come out on Switch 2?

On Sept. 29, 2026, the same day it launched on Windows, Steam, Xbox Series X and S, PS5 and the original Switch. The game is developed by Mojang Studios with Double Eleven, and the ESRB rates it E10+.

The Switch 2 version costs $29.99 on the Nintendo eShop in the US. The Deluxe Edition, which adds four hero skins, the Soul Cape, the Blub pet and both planned DLCs when they come out, costs $49.99.

Is there a physical copy?

Yes. Nintendo’s US store sells a physical Deluxe Edition for Switch 2 at $49.99, and it’s the only physical version on that store. The listing doesn’t say whether the game is fully on the card or comes as a game-key card, and it notes that the DLCs are available as released. No standard physical edition is listed there.

When the two DLCs arrive, Deluxe owners get them at no extra cost. Mojang hasn’t dated either one yet, as our Minecraft Dungeons 2 DLC release date page explains.

Switch or Switch 2 version?

There are two separate versions on the eShop, each at $29.99. The Switch 2 version is the one made for the console, with a download of more than 6 GB, while the Switch version is under 5 GB. Nintendo’s store doesn’t list an upgrade pack between them, and it says the Switch version runs on Switch 2 with the same behavior as on Switch.

Neither Mojang nor Nintendo has published frame rate or resolution targets for the Switch 2 version. Both versions support TV, tabletop and handheld modes and the touch screen, and the Switch 2 version supports cloud saves for Nintendo Switch Online members.

How does co-op work on Switch 2?

You can play solo or with up to four players, in couch co-op on one console, online with cross-play alongside players on other platforms, or in mixed co-op, where players on one console bring the session online and others join remotely. Online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Mojang stores hero progress online and ties it to your platform account, so you can carry on with the same hero on a friend’s console after signing in. Linking your platform accounts to the same Microsoft account lets you keep playing with that hero on another platform too.

The Sift, the game’s new dimension, reaches Minecraft itself in 2027, as our Minecraft Sift dimension page explains. Minecraft also gets a new version for the console on Oct. 27, as our Minecraft Switch 2 Edition page explains.

This page is updated as soon as Mojang announces a Switch 2 patch, DLC date or price change for Minecraft Dungeons II.
