How the PC update went
The update went live on PC on Oct. 22 on Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG; the Microsoft Store version on PC follows on Oct. 29. It brings uncapped frame rates, 4A’s TSR, DLSS and FSR, screen space global illumination, more detailed geometry and textures, spatial audio and DualSense adaptive trigger support. The patch also fixes crashes on modern hardware, missing 1440p and 4K resolutions, Steam Cloud saves and progress blockers in both campaigns.

A hotfix on Oct. 23 fixed higher resolutions not being detected, the Steam Overlay disappearing and the comic reward for linking a Deep Silver Account not being available. PCs below the new specs can switch to a legacy branch on Steam and GOG. Deep Silver notes that saves from the Microsoft Store version on PC don’t carry over to the upgraded version, so it recommends a new game; in that version, chapter select unlocks every chapter with a default set of equipment.
A comic for linking your account
Linking either game, or Metro Exodus, to a Deep Silver Account unlocks an exclusive Metro comic book by Dark Horse Comics. The games show a QR code that leads to the sign-in page.
Metro 2039 comes next
Deep Silver tied the update to a milestone: the Metro series has passed 50 million copies sold. The next game, Metro 2039, launches on Feb. 4, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC, and its Collector’s Edition comes with a wearable Spartan helmet replica. For everything else arriving the week of Oct. 29, see our new games this week page.
This page is updated as soon as Deep Silver confirms the console unlock hour or publishes the PS5 and Xbox patch notes.
