Madden NFL 27 release date: out since Aug. 13, 2026, on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC

Madden NFL 27 came out on Aug. 13, 2026. EA Sports launched it worldwide at 2 p.m. ET on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, plus mobile and, for the first time, Apple Arcade. The Standard Edition costs $69.99, and Caleb Williams is on the cover.

When did Madden NFL 27 come out?

On Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. ET, on every platform at once. Some players started earlier. MVP+ members on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S got seven days of early access from Aug. 6, the same day the EA Play 10-hour trial opened on PC, PS5 and Xbox. Owners of the Deluxe Edition and the MVP Bundle got three days of early access from Aug. 10, on every platform, including Switch 2.

Platforms and crossplay

Madden NFL 27 is on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, where you can buy it in the EA app, on Steam or in the Epic Games Store. There’s also Madden NFL 27 Mobile on iOS and Android, and, for the first time, Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition on Apple Arcade, with Franchise and Quick Play modes on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.

EA says you can play cross-platform between PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in Franchise, Superstar, Madden Ultimate Team and Head-to-Head. On PC, you can set the frame rate to 30, 60 or 120 fps, or leave it uncapped, and EA calls this the fastest Madden it has made.

Price: $69.99, or $99.99 for the Deluxe Edition

The Standard Edition costs $69.99 and the Deluxe Edition $99.99. EA also sells two bundles with College Football 27: the Kickoff Bundle, with both Standard Editions, and the MVP Bundle, with both Deluxe Editions. Until Oct. 15, 2026, the Standard Edition is 35% off, at $45.49 on Steam and in the EA app.

Madden NFL 27 isn’t in the Game Pass catalog right now, though Madden NFL 26 is. EA Play members can try it for up to 10 hours, and EA Play Pro members on PC get the full game through the EA Play Pro Edition.

What’s new in Madden NFL 27

The biggest change is the Persona Engine in Franchise mode. EA says more than 65 Persona DNA types give every NFL player a personality that shapes contract talks, reactions and development, so no two leagues play out the same way. On the field, receivers and defensive backs now hand-fight for position, contested catches are timing-based, and a new QB Sneak Meter brings the Tush Push into the game.

Superstar mode now follows your player from high school to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, with links to College Football 27’s Road to Glory and three new playable positions. In Madden Ultimate Team, Evos raise a player’s maximum rating and can even change his archetype, while the Ultimate Captain is one core player you build up across the whole year.

Who’s on the cover?

Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears quarterback, is on the cover of both the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition. He’s also on the key art for Madden NFL 27 Mobile.

Updates since launch

EA has shipped title updates on Aug. 26, Sept. 16 and Sept. 30. The latest one reworks how the salary cap grows over a Franchise and how computer-run teams sign, re-sign and trade players, and it fixes field goal blocking, catch rates and a game clock bug. EA says more Franchise fixes are coming. Ultimate Team Season 2 started on Sept. 9, the week the NFL season kicked off.
