EA Sports FC 27 on Switch 2: $69.99, a 75.5 GB download and The Grounds, which the Switch version doesn't get

FC 27 on Switch 2 is the full version of the game, with the new social mode the Switch version leaves out. Here’s what it costs, how big it is and how it compares with FC 27 on the original Switch.

How much is FC 27 on Switch 2?

Nintendo’s US eShop sells the Standard Edition for $69.99 and the Ultimate Edition for $99.99. Both came out on Sept. 25, 2026, and EA sold the Ultimate Edition with up to seven days of early access from Sept. 18. EA’s Ultimate Plus Edition, which it sold only from July 23 to Aug. 31, 2026, wasn’t available on Nintendo platforms, and pre-order bonuses on Switch and Switch 2 didn’t include the FC 26 items other platforms got.

The game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and includes optional in-game purchases with random items. EA’s Club Membership works on Switch 2 too: you qualify by logging into both FC 26 and FC 27 before Nov. 1, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. PT.

What does the Switch 2 version get that Switch doesn’t?

The Grounds. EA says its new social mode, including Clubs, is only on the PS5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. The Grounds brings up to 100 players together in a shared football playground built around a central Terrace and three districts, with Kickabouts, small-sided matches and 1v1s, and Clubs sit at its center.

That shows up in Nintendo’s store data. The Switch 2 version lists online play for 2 to 100 players, while the Switch version lists up to 8. Both versions have Manager Career, with its rebuilt Transfer Market and Dynamic OVRs, and Football Ultimate Team, with the new FUT Gallery.

How does it run on Switch 2?

EA and Nintendo haven’t published a frame rate or resolution for the Switch 2 version. Nintendo’s store lists HDR output on compatible TVs, touch screen support and surround sound, and the game plays in TV, tabletop and handheld mode.

It’s a big install. Nintendo’s store data puts the Switch 2 version at about 75.5 GB, so you may need a microSD Express card if your internal storage is full. The game doesn’t support Save Data Cloud backup, online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and commentary in languages other than English and French is a separate download.

Can you play the Switch version on Switch 2?

Yes. Nintendo lists the $59.99 Switch version as supported on Switch 2, with game behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch, and its download is about 32 GB. It runs as the Switch game, though, so it doesn’t add The Grounds or Clubs, and Nintendo’s store doesn’t list an upgrade pack from the Switch version to Switch 2.
