Enshrouded 1.0 comes out Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. ET, with a PS5 version and a new region

Enshrouded finally leaves Early Access on Thursday, Oct. 15. Keen Games' survival action RPG has been on Steam in Early Access since January 2024. Version 1.0 unlocks at 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) on Steam, and the game arrives on PS5 the same day. It completes the map, finishes the main story and adds a new top tier of gear, enemies and spells.

The PS5 listing on the PlayStation Store shows a release at 5 p.m. UTC (1 p.m. ET), two hours after the time on Keen Games' launch map. Keen Games has not announced the PS5 price.

What’s new in Enshrouded 1.0. The headline is a complete map. Past the now-open gates north of the Veilwater Basin lies Cinder’s Cradle, a new region with lava-filled ruins below and floating islands of the Ancients above, guarded by a new faction. Two new Hollow Halls open in the Albaneve Summits and the Veilwater Basin, and the Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes grow toward the edges of the world. The main quest now explains the Ancients and the Shroud, and with update 1.0.0.0 the story of Embervale is concluded, for now.

Combat focuses on mages: nine new spell types including crowd control, area damage and summons, endless “eternal” versions of every spell for the late game, upgradable spells and arrows, summonable skeletons with new Necromancy gems and a reworked wand with free aim. All enemies got smarter pathfinding, and movement, the camera and steep-slope traversal were reworked.

Building gets Sparkworks, a logic system that wires levers and pressure plates to doors, traps and enemy encounters, so you can build puzzles, dungeons, parkour levels or escape rooms and share them. A new brick renderer keeps distant terrain and bases detailed, each biome has its own lighting and atmosphere, HDR is supported, and Keen Games says the game runs better with less memory.

Early Access players, saves and crossplay. If you bought Enshrouded on PC during Early Access, you don’t buy it again. Your saves carry over and are converted to a new format, but Keen Games strongly recommends starting a new character because the first hours of the game have changed. Early Access players also get three exclusive decorative props, redeemable from the Redeem Add-Ons button in the escape menu.

There is no crossplay at launch. Keen Games says it is working on play between platforms but has no estimate for when it will be ready. On PC, Enshrouded needs at least a GTX 1060, RX 580 or Arc A380 with 6GB of video memory, 16GB of RAM and 60GB of storage, with an SSD recommended.
