Elden Ring Nightreign’s DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, came out on Dec. 4, 2025, and costs $15. Here’s what it adds, how to unlock its characters and bosses, and where a second DLC stands.

When did the Nightreign DLC come out?

The Forsaken Hollows launched on Dec. 4, 2025, at 0:00 UTC, which was 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the US. Steam’s automatic downloads began at that moment, and the DLC needs Update 1.03, which went out on Dec. 3.

Bandai Namco announced the DLC on Nov. 11, 2025, and revealed its two new characters on Nov. 25 and Dec. 2, so the full reveal-to-launch run took just over three weeks. Nightreign itself launched on May 30, 2025, and passed 5 million copies shipped by July 24, 2025.

What The Forsaken Hollows adds

The DLC adds two Nightfarers, Scholar and Undertaker, bringing the roster to ten. Scholar is built around tools and finding weak points, with the passive ability Bagcraft and the Ultimate Art Communion, which links enemies together. Undertaker is a faith-driven fighter, introduced with the line that faith is “the unyielding strength to grind the Ruin into dust.”

It also adds two Day Three bosses, the Balancers and the Dreglord, and a new Shifting Earth, The Great Hollow, plus a Balancers raid event, new relics such as The Will of the Balancers and new costumes. On Dec. 19, 2025, FromSoftware added the Salvation’s Standard-Bearers, a harder Everdark version of the Balancers.

How to unlock the DLC content

To unlock Scholar and Undertaker, defeat Tricephalos, then go to Roundtable Hold and speak with the Iron Menial, who has a message from the Small Jar Merchant.

To reach the new bosses, you need to have beaten Tricephalos and one other main game boss, and made both new Nightfarers playable. Then head to the chapel that opens behind the Small Jar Merchant, which leads to The Great Hollow and the Balancers expedition. A post-launch update also brought the DLC’s Shifting Earth, raid events and bases into Deep of Night, but only when all three players in the expedition own the DLC.

Price and editions

The Forsaken Hollows costs $15.00 on Steam. The Deluxe Edition at $54.99 includes the base game, The Forsaken Hollows, a digital artbook and a mini soundtrack, while the base game alone costs $39.99, so the Deluxe Edition saves nothing on the DLC but adds the extras. Bandai Namco warns Deluxe owners not to buy the DLC twice. These were the Steam prices on Oct. 19, 2026.

The DLC is on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and PC, the same platforms as the game.

Is a second Nightreign DLC coming?

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco haven’t announced a second Nightreign DLC. Since The Forsaken Hollows, the game has received Patch 1.03.2 on Jan. 16, 2026, which rebalanced several Nightfarers and fixed bugs in the Balancers and Dreglord fights, and Bandai Namco has released a 57-track vinyl collection that includes the DLC’s music. Expected price for a second DLC: about $15, our estimate, the price of the first.

FromSoftware’s next announced game is The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2, covered on our The Duskbloods release date page, and for the main series, see our Elden Ring 2 release date page.

This page is updated as soon as FromSoftware or Bandai Namco announces new Nightreign DLC or a major update.
