Dragon Age 5 release date: BioWare hasn't announced a sequel and says it's focused on Mass Effect

When does Dragon Age 5 come out?
There’s no release date, because Dragon Age 5 hasn’t been announced. EA and BioWare haven’t revealed a sequel, a setting or a platform, and dates shared online aren’t official. Stories presented as Dragon Age 5 leaks haven’t been confirmed by BioWare either.
The latest game is Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which came out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Oct. 31, 2024. It’s $59.99 on Steam. The gap before it was long: Dragon Age: Inquisition came out in November 2014, so by simple arithmetic, fans waited about 10 years between the third and fourth games.
BioWare is working on Mass Effect
BioWare changed course after The Veilguard. In a studio update on Jan. 29, 2025, it said a core team is developing the next Mass Effect game, led by veterans of the original trilogy, and that it had matched many staff with open roles on other EA teams. It described the result as a more agile, focused studio.
On N7 Day, Nov. 7, 2025, BioWare went further, saying “the team is heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect.” That leaves no team at BioWare that’s publicly working on Dragon Age. See where things stand on the Mass Effect 5 release date.
How Dragon Age: The Veilguard performed
EA explained the change in numbers. In its preliminary results of Jan. 22, 2025, EA said The Veilguard had engaged about 1.5 million players during the quarter, nearly 50% below what it had expected. EA itself became a private company on Aug. 4, 2026, after a group of investors completed its purchase, and it hasn’t said anything new about Dragon Age since. It hasn’t announced Dead Space 4 either.
The Veilguard was announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and renamed in 2024. Before it, the series ran from Dragon Age: Origins in November 2009 to Dragon Age II in March 2011 and Inquisition in 2014. For other big games still waiting on dates, see our list of upcoming games in 2027.
