Starfield has two paid story DLCs, Shattered Space and Terran Armada, and its biggest update, Free Lanes, came free. Here’s what each one adds, what it costs and where a third DLC stands.
How many DLCs does Starfield have?
Two. Starfield came out in September 2023 on Xbox Series X and S and PC, and Bethesda Game Studios has since released two paid story DLCs: Shattered Space on Sept. 30, 2024, and Terran Armada on April 7, 2026. The second arrived the same day as the free Free Lanes update and the PS5 version.
Between them came more than a dozen patches, the REV-8 land vehicle, the Trackers Alliance bounty series and more than 1,000 Creations, the official and community add-ons sold or given away through the game’s Creations menu.
Terran Armada
Terran Armada costs $9.99. Its villains are members of the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective who vanished during the Colony War and returned as the Terran Armada, an advanced military force made up largely of robot soldiers that believes it’s the true children of Earth. The questline runs across the Settled Systems, and its outcome ripples through the whole galaxy.

Not every Terran is hostile. Along the way you meet Delta, a reprogrammed Terran robot who joins as a companion. The DLC also adds Terran ship modules, including double-decker habs and a big new cockpit, tactical weapons and spacesuits, a ModelG mini-bot crewmember from the Spare Parts quest at The Well and a fully decorated cabin you can drop on any planet as an outpost.
Incursions
Terran Armada’s repeatable content is Incursions, battles that appear almost anywhere in the Settled Systems and show up on the Starmap. They range from small skirmishes to large raids on Terran vessels, some tied to the story and others optional with loot to collect.

Nearby Terran technology blocks your grav jump, so you have to get far enough away or shut the Incursion down to leave. You can steal whole Terran ships, and you can tune how often optional Incursions appear in the Gameplay Options.
Shattered Space
Shattered Space, the first story expansion, costs $19.99 on Steam. A distress signal from a derelict star station, The Oracle, leads you to Va’ruun’kai, the hidden homeworld of House Va’ruun, where a massive vortex has destroyed much of the city of Dazra. You investigate the vortex, the fate of the survivors and the followers of the Great Serpent, and decide the faction’s future.

The expansion opens after One Small Step, the first main quest mission: the first time you grav jump to an orbit not used by a mission, the distress call comes in. Bethesda recommends reaching level 35 first, and the planet is fully handcrafted, with its own weapons, spacesuits and gear.
Free Lanes, the free update
Free Lanes, on April 7, 2026, is Starfield’s most expansive free update. It lets you fly freely between the planets of a star system, with Cruise Mode for decorating your ship and talking to your crew in flight, autopilot that slows down on arrival and new space encounters and points of interest along the way.

It also adds X-Tech, a new resource for upgrading weapons, gear and ships, five legendary-effect rerolls per item, Tier 4 legendary effects, the Superior and Exceptional quality tiers and a Ship Optimization Terminal. Outposts get a shared container, a Database and the Milliwhale pet, and you can rank up Starborn powers with Quantum Essence without starting New Game+. The Anchorpoint starstation, the Moon Jumper vehicle, an asteroid base home and 27 Colony War Action Hero collectibles round it out.
Creations and the Trackers Alliance
Creations are Starfield’s official add-on marketplace, with more than 1,000 items from Bethesda and Verified Creators, from new factions and quests to ships, homes and weapons. On Steam, Creation Credits cost $4.99 for 500, $9.99 for 1,000, $24.99 for 2,700 and $49.99 for 5,500.

The biggest official one is the Trackers Alliance bounty series, completed on March 17, 2026, with seven missions for 700 Creation Credits, about $7. Its first contract, The Starjacker, is free for every player.
Editions and prices
On Steam, Starfield costs $49.99, and the Digital Premium Edition costs $69.99 with both story DLCs, 1,000 Creation Credits, the Constellation Skin Pack and the digital artbook and soundtrack. The $24.99 Premium Edition Upgrade adds the same extras to the Standard Edition, $4.99 less than the two DLCs bought separately, before counting the 1,000 credits. These were the prices on Oct. 19, 2026.

Starfield is on Game Pass, and Game Pass members get the story DLC by upgrading to the Premium Edition. The PS5 version, out since April 7, 2026, comes in Standard and Premium editions, as our Starfield PS5 page explains.
Is there a Starfield DLC 3?
Bethesda hasn’t announced one. Since Terran Armada, its Starfield posts have covered updates on May 14 and June 11, 2026, and featured Creations such as Sammy and the Lab of Nightmares, a community quest line with eight quests and a new companion. Expected price for a third story DLC: about $19.99, our estimate, the Steam price of Shattered Space.

Bethesda’s other big games are still a long way off: our The Elder Scrolls 6 release date and Fallout 5 release date pages track both.
This page is updated as soon as Bethesda announces new Starfield DLC or a new update.
