The Switch 2 is selling faster than the Switch did. Here’s how many consoles and games Nintendo has sold, how that compares with the original and when the next numbers arrive.

How many Switch 2 consoles have been sold?

Nintendo had sold 23.68 million Switch 2 consoles worldwide as of June 30, 2026, according to its sales data. That’s 19.86 million in the fiscal year from the June 5, 2025, launch to March 31, 2026, and 3.82 million from April to June 2026.

The April to June figure was 34.4% lower than in the same quarter of 2025, when the console launched. Nintendo said that for a system in its second year, sales still compare well with the original Switch, and that sell-through in Japan stayed solid after a price increase on May 25. The US price went up by $50, to $499.99, on Sept. 1, as our Switch 2 price page explains.

Switch 2 sales vs Switch 1

The original Switch launched on March 3, 2017, and had sold 17.79 million units by March 31, 2018, about 13 months later, according to Nintendo. The Switch 2 reached 23.68 million about 13 months after its launch, so it was roughly 5.9 million units, or 33%, ahead at the same point.
