RTX 5080 Super release date: Nvidia hasn't announced it, and we don't expect it before CES 2027

Nvidia hasn't announced a GeForce RTX 5080 Super as of Oct. 18, 2026, and the card isn't on its website. Expected date: not before CES 2027, which runs Jan. 6 to 9, 2027, in Las Vegas. That's our estimate, based on Nvidia's pattern: it announced the RTX 40 Super Series at CES on Jan. 8, 2024, and the RTX 50 Series at CES on Jan. 6, 2025, but showed no new desktop graphics cards at CES 2026. Expected price: about $999 to $1,199, our estimate, based on the $999 launch prices of the RTX 4080 Super and the RTX 5080 and the higher memory costs behind console price increases in 2026. No official price exists. The RTX 5080 it would sit above has 16GB of GDDR7 memory and 10,752 CUDA cores, and went on sale on Jan. 30, 2025, at $999.

There’s no RTX 5080 Super yet, and Nvidia hasn’t said one is coming. Here’s when we expect it, what it could cost and what Nvidia did the last time it made Super cards.

When is the RTX 5080 Super coming out?

Nvidia hasn’t announced it. As of Oct. 18, 2026, there’s no RTX 5080 Super on Nvidia’s website, and its newest desktop GeForce cards are still the RTX 50 Series, which went on sale in early 2025.

Expected date: not before CES 2027, which runs Jan. 6 to 9, 2027, in Las Vegas. That’s our estimate, not an official date. Nvidia announced both of its last desktop launches in January, at CES, and it didn’t show any new desktop cards at CES 2026.

How much will the RTX 5080 Super cost?

Expected price: about $999 to $1,199. That’s our estimate, and Nvidia hasn’t given a price. The RTX 4080 Super launched at $999 in January 2024, and the RTX 5080 launched at the same $999 a year later.

Memory has gotten more expensive since then. Microsoft blamed memory and storage costs when it raised Xbox console prices on Aug. 1, 2026, and Sony’s annual report pointed to higher memory chip prices, which is why our range goes above $999.

What Nvidia did with the RTX 40 Super

Nvidia announced the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4070 Super on Jan. 8, 2024, and released them over three weeks: the 4070 Super on Jan. 17 at $599, the 4070 Ti Super on Jan. 24 at $799 and the 4080 Super on Jan. 31 at $999.

The 4080 Super got more CUDA cores and faster GDDR6X memory, at 23 Gbps, and Nvidia called it second only to the RTX 4090 for gaming. The 4070 Super had 20% more CUDA cores than the RTX 4070, and the 4070 Ti Super moved up to 16GB of memory.

RTX 5080 specs and price

The RTX 5080 has 16GB of GDDR7 memory on a 256-bit interface, 10,752 CUDA cores, a boost clock of 2.62 GHz and a total graphics power of 360 watts, according to Nvidia. It went on sale on Jan. 30, 2025, at $999, alongside the $1,999 RTX 5090, with the RTX 5070 Ti at $749 and the RTX 5070 at $549 following in February.

If Nvidia follows what it did with the RTX 4080 Super, a Super version would add cores and faster memory, but Nvidia hasn’t confirmed any specs.

What Nvidia launched for gamers in 2026

At CES on Jan. 5, 2026, Nvidia announced DLSS 4.5 for RTX 50 Series cards, and at GTC on March 16 it unveiled DLSS 5, which our DLSS 5 release date page covers. Its one new chip was RTX Spark, for slim laptops and compact desktops, and the first RTX Spark laptops went on sale on Oct. 16, as our RTX Spark laptops page explains.

For the next full generation, our RTX 6090 release date page covers what Nvidia has and hasn’t said.

This page is updated as soon as Nvidia announces an RTX 5080 Super or new GeForce graphics cards.
