What changed on the cameras
The headline upgrade is the 48MP Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture — four settings from f/1.48 to f/4.0, so the phone can let in more light at night or keep more of a scene sharp in daylight. The 48MP telephoto zooms 4x optically (a 100 mm view), and the 48MP Ultra Wide shoots macro. Together Apple calls it the Pro Fusion camera system.
No regular iPhone 18 — yet
Apple has not announced a standard iPhone 18 or an iPhone 18 Plus, and it has not given a date for one. Reports that a cheaper iPhone 18 is coming in 2027 do not come from Apple. Until it says otherwise, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e are its entry models.
IPhone 18 Pro or iPhone Duo?
The folding iPhone Duo uses the same A20 Pro chip and goes on sale October 23 from $1,999. It trades the Pro’s 4x telephoto for a second, bigger screen, and unlocks with Touch ID instead of Face ID. Our full guide: iPhone Duo release date and price.
