1X NEO costs $20,000, or $499 a month. You reserve the home robot with a $200 deposit, which 1X lists as fully refundable. The company says US deliveries start in 2026 — but as of October 14, 2026, its order page still says only “US Deliveries start 2026,” with no date, and 1X has not announced that the first customer robots have shipped.

Buy or subscribe: the two ways to get NEO

Owners who pay the full price get the earlier delivery slot. Subscribers pay monthly and get standard delivery.

When NEO ships

From pre-order to your living room
  1. Oct 28, 2025Pre-orders open; 1X says 10,000 NEOs — its first year of output — book out in five days
  2. Jan 2026Final permits for 1X’s factory in Hayward, California
  3. Apr 30, 20261X says the Hayward factory is fully operational; first robots go to internal home testing
  4. 2026First customer deliveries, per 1X: “some of you will get your NEO this year, some will get them later”
  5. End of 20271X’s target: more than 100,000 robots a year, depending on automation

“We promised the first NEOs would ship in 2026, and we’re keeping that promise,” 1X chief executive Bernt Børnich wrote in April. With 10,000 reservations and a factory sized for up to 10,000 robots a year across two sites, many buyers should expect their NEO in 2027 rather than this year.

What NEO can do on day one

1X is upfront that NEO starts out limited: it “arrives with basic autonomy for early owners and grows in capability over time.” Its brain is Redwood, 1X’s general-purpose AI model, which learns a task and repeats it.

  • Simple tasks it learns— 1X’s own example is “get the door.”
  • Voice controlAnd a phone app for chore schedules, check-ins and remote monitoring.
  • Self-charging— when the battery runs low, NEO plugs itself in.
  • Boom Box mode— it doubles as a Bluetooth speaker.

Expert Mode: who is really driving

For chores NEO does not know yet — 1X uses laundry as the example — there is Expert Mode: a 1X expert supervises the robot remotely at a time you schedule, and NEO learns from it. NEO can also be piloted remotely through the app or a VR headset. That makes it useful sooner, but it also means a remote operator is working through the robot in your home while a session runs — worth weighing before you schedule one.

22 decibels is about as loud as a whisper — a deliberate choice for a robot meant to work while people are home.

What is still unknown

1X has not published a delivery date for any customer, a list of chores NEO handles fully on its own at launch, or a date for orders outside the US. This page is updated as soon as the first NEOs reach customers or 1X adds dates.

FAQ

How much is the 1X NEO?

$20,000 to buy outright, with a 3-year warranty, or $499 a month on subscription. Either way you reserve it with a $200 deposit that 1X lists as fully refundable.
