Marvel's Blade release date: no date yet, and Xbox is still deciding Arkane Lyon's future
Marvel's Blade doesn't have a release date, a release year or platforms yet. Bethesda and Marvel Games revealed it at The Game Awards in December 2023, when Arkane Lyon had just begun development. On July 6, 2026, Xbox said Arkane's management in France was starting a required consultation with its Works Council to review potential strategic options, and on Sept. 22, it said the consultation should run through the end of 2026. Xbox also said in July that none of its publicly announced games were being canceled as part of its cuts.
Nearly three years after its reveal, Marvel’s Blade still has no date, and its studio’s future is under review. Here’s what’s official.
When does Marvel’s Blade come out?
Bethesda and Arkane Lyon haven’t said, not even a year. The game was revealed at The Game Awards in December 2023, and at that point Arkane Lyon had just begun development. Marvel’s official game page still shows only the announcement trailer, and it lists the ESRB rating as pending.
There’s no price, no store page and no wishlist. For comparison, Arkane Lyon’s last game, Deathloop, came out in September 2021.
Is Marvel’s Blade canceled?
No cancellation has been announced. When Xbox announced the biggest restructuring in its history on July 6, 2026, it said none of its publicly announced first-party games or projects were being canceled as part of the cuts. Blade is published by Bethesda, which is part of Xbox.
What’s happening to Arkane Lyon?
In the same July 6 post, Xbox said Arkane’s management in France was beginning a required consultation with its Works Council, the elected staff body it must consult under French law, to review potential strategic options. Three other studios named in that post, Compulsion Games, Double Fine and Undead Labs, have since gone independent, while two deals for Ninja Theory fell through.

Is Marvel’s Blade on PS5 or Xbox?
Bethesda hasn’t announced any platforms, so PS5, Xbox Series X and S and PC are all unconfirmed. Xbox has brought several of its games to PS5, but it hasn’t said anything about Blade either way.
What is Marvel’s Blade about?
You play Eric Brooks, the Daywalker, who is half human and half vampire. The story is original, and it’s set in a quarantined part of Paris during a supernatural emergency, where vampires force people to shelter inside until sunrise. Bethesda and Marvel describe it as a mature, single-player, third-person game, and Marvel Games picked Arkane Lyon for Blade’s 50th anniversary.
After the reveal, Arkane Lyon released concept art of the city, a nightclub and the metro. Marvel’s Wolverine, the other big Marvel game of recent years, came out on PS5 on Sept. 15, 2026, and our Marvel’s Wolverine on PC page tracks its PC version.
