Fortnitemares 2026 end date: the Halloween event runs until Nov. 1, with Five Nights at Freddy's bosses and Freddy Krueger

Fortnitemares 2026 runs until Sunday, Nov. 1. Until then, Fortnite has Five Nights at Freddy’s bosses, Freddy Krueger and Halloween loot. Here’s everything in the event and when it ends.

When does Fortnitemares 2026 end?

Fortnitemares 2026 ends on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. Epic Games started the Halloween event with update 42.30 on Thursday, Oct. 1, so it runs for a full month inside Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, the season that went live on Aug. 20.

Epic hasn’t announced when Override itself ends. The last two seasons each lasted about 11 weeks, and our next Fortnite season page tracks the date as soon as Epic shares it.

Five Nights at Freddy’s bosses and Freddy Krueger

The headline of Fortnitemares 2026 is Five Nights at Freddy’s. A cursed cartridge spreads through the Island, and animatronic bosses roam Battle Royale, with one always lurking at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Parlor. Defeat a rogue animatronic and you can possess its suit to finish the match.

Freddy Krueger has a home too. The new Nightmare Neighborhood point of interest is where the A Nightmare on Elm Street villain waits, and Freddy outfits join the Item Shop through October.

New weapons and Sprites

The new weapon is the Bonerattler SMG. Classic Halloween gear is back as well, including the Pumpkin Launcher and the Wood Stake Shotgun.

Override’s Sprites got a Halloween crew, found in new Pumpkin Chests around the Island:

• Spooky Dash SpriteDash charges that refill over time.
• Vampire SpriteHeals you as you deal damage.
• Deer SpriteMakes melee hits stronger.
• Dumpster Dive SpriteTurns a hiding spot into food that restores extra health.

Update 42.40 on Oct. 15 added the Honey Sprite, which sends bees after anyone who damages you, and the Obsession Sprite. Epic said more Sprites arrive through the month, including the last community-made winners of its Design a Sprite contest. Sprites also appear in Ranked, with their abilities turned off to keep matches even, according to Epic’s in-game news. Our Fortnite update 42.40 page has the details of that update.

Horde Rush, Reload and creator horror islands

Horde Rush is back for Fortnitemares, and Nitemare Island returned to Reload on Oct. 8, alongside the Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps. Epic also put together a collection of creator-made horror islands, and playing them with friends unlocks the Safety in Numbers quest, Epic’s in-game news says.

Fortnitemares outfits in the Item Shop

Halloween outfits keep landing in the Item Shop through October. Epic’s list covers A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Obsession, Slender Man, Beetlejuice, Predator: Badlands and Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights. Epic’s updates arrived every other Thursday this season, so the next one is expected on Thursday, Oct. 29, our estimate, three days before Fortnitemares closes. For competitive players, the FNCS Solos finals run on Oct. 26 and 27. Other games run Halloween events on the same calendar, including Pokémon Go’s Halloween event and The Elder Scrolls Online’s Witches Festival.
