When does the next Fortnite season start?
Epic Games has not announced it. The current season, Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, started on Aug. 20, 2026. The two seasons before it, Showdown and Runners, each lasted about 11 weeks, and 11 weeks after Aug. 20 is early November.

Is Fortnite coming to Linux?
Yes. Epic Games said on Oct. 14, 2026, that it will bring Fortnite to Linux through the Epic Games Launcher once its rebuilt Easy Anti-Cheat works with a critical mass of Linux distribution maintainers. Epic has not announced a release date.

When does Fortnite Season 4 end?
Epic has not announced an end date for Override. Fortnitemares 2026, the Halloween event inside the season, runs until Nov. 1.

Why isn't Fortnite on Linux already?
Epic says its current Linux anti-cheat could not offer the same protection as the Windows version, which runs a kernel driver while a game is open. Easy Anti-Cheat has supported native Linux games since 2014 and Windows games through Wine and Proton since 2021, but that support is opt-in per game.

What is the current Fortnite season called?
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. It added Override Consoles that change the rules for a whole match, Lobby Hacks, Cheat Codes, Sonic the Hedgehog’s Green Hill Zone and a Battle Pass headlined by Sonic.

Will Fortnite work on Steam Deck?
Not yet. Epic says Steam Deck does not support the features EAC Linux v2 requires, but it is actively talking with Valve and hopes to support it in the future.

Will there be a live event at the end of the season?
Epic has not announced one for Override. The season before last, Showdown, ended with the one-time Shattered live event on June 5, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET, and Runners went live overnight.

What do I need to play anti-cheat games on Linux with EAC Linux v2?
A kernel and kernel modules signed with a well-known key, TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, measured boot, IOMMU on non-handheld PCs, kernel lockdown in integrity mode, kexec disabled and the BPF Linux Security Module active. Epic says these may require configuration changes on some distributions.

What time do new Fortnite seasons go live?
Epic takes Fortnite offline for maintenance first. For Override, the downtime ran from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. ET on Aug. 20. Showdown went down at 2 a.m. ET on March 19, and Runners went down at 7:30 p.m. ET on June 5, right after the live event, and was back at 2:26 a.m. ET on June 6.

Which Linux distributions work with EAC Linux v2?
Epic’s starting list of well-known keys covers Ubuntu and derived distros like Linux Mint, Fedora, Universal Blue distros like Bazzite, Bluefin and Aurora, Debian, openSUSE, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux, plus the Microsoft UEFI CA used by the shim bootloader. Epic plans to expand the list and make it open source.

How much is the Fortnite Battle Pass?
800 V-Bucks since March 19, 2026, and completing it gives you 800 V-Bucks back, enough for the next one. It used to cost 1,000 V-Bucks. The Battle Pass is also included with Fortnite Crew.

Does EAC Linux v2 run all the time?
No. Its systemd service only starts when a protected game starts and stops when the game exits. You can also keep a separate boot entry just for protected games.

When is the next Fortnite update?
The next new content Epic has dated is Oct. 15, 2026, when the Honey Sprite and the Obsession Sprite join Fortnitemares. This season, Fortnite updates have arrived every two weeks: Sept. 3, Sept. 17 and Oct. 1.

Can I play Fortnite with the new Epic Games Launcher preview?
Epic recommends that players of competitive games like Fortnite and Rocket League keep using the current launcher during the preview, because full Fortnite integration in the new launcher is still being finalized.

What are the new Epic Games Launcher system requirements?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) with an Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3; macOS 12 Monterey or newer on Apple M1 or newer, since Intel Macs are not supported; or Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Fedora 43, Debian 12 or newer on a 64-bit x86-64 2GHz dual-core CPU. Every version needs 4GB of RAM.
