Dying Light: The Beast DLC: every paid pack, the free Restored Land update and where story DLC stands
Dying Light: The Beast's paid DLC is four gear packs and the bundle that collects them. Dying Light: The Beast’s paid DLC is four gear and weapon packs, and its biggest additions have come free. Here’s what every pack includes and costs, what Restored Land and the free updates added and where story DLC stands.
Does Dying Light: The Beast have DLC?
Yes. Dying Light: The Beast came out on Sept. 18, 2025, on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, with PS5 Pro support, and Techland released its paid DLC on March 26, 2026: Action Hero Essentials, Hunter Essentials, the Fire Lotus Weapon Pack and the Discharge Weapon Pack, plus the RL Definitive Upgrade that bundles all four.
The paid packs are gear, weapons and supplies. The big content, from new difficulty settings to a survival mode and a three-week anniversary event, has come in free updates for every owner.
Is there Dying Light: The Beast story DLC?
Techland hasn’t announced one. The Beast itself started out as story content: Techland revealed it on Aug. 20, 2024, as the answer for fans waiting on the second story expansion for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, and turned it into a standalone game starring Kyle Crane, the hero of the first Dying Light.

Restored Land, the free update
Restored Land arrived on March 26, 2026, and owners of the Standard Edition got the Restored Land Edition at no extra cost. Its centerpiece is a new solo survival mode where killed infected don’t respawn and looted items don’t come back, so every Convoy, Dark Zone and Hive you clear stays cleared.
Survival also gets harder, with hunger to manage, batteries that run out and an optional One Life setting that wipes the save after a single death. The update added Roadkill Rallies, friends leaderboards, High-Risk Encounters, 36 new quest encounters, seven achievements and new finishers.
The RL Definitive Upgrade
The RL Definitive Upgrade costs $29.99 and turns any copy into the RL Definitive Edition. It includes all four paid packs, Action Hero Essentials, Hunter Essentials, Fire Lotus and Discharge, plus the Deluxe Edition extras: the Castor Woods Prepper Bundle, the Castor Woods Tourist Map, the official soundtrack and a wallpaper pack.
Bought one by one, the four packs cost $29.96, and the Deluxe extras another $9.99 through the Standard to Deluxe Upgrade, so the bundle saves about $10.
Action Hero and Hunter Essentials
Action Hero Essentials, $9.99, is built for loud fights. It includes the Predator rifle with its blueprint, the Hardboiled gear set, the Afterkill 47 charm, three Pipe Bombs, five Molotovs and three XP boosters.
Hunter Essentials, also $9.99, suits a quieter style. It includes the Hush crossbow with its blueprint, the Trapper gear set, the Villedor charm, named for the city of Dying Light 2, three Military Medkits, five UV Bars and three XP boosters.
Fire Lotus and Discharge weapon packs
The two weapon packs cost $4.99 each. Fire Lotus adds the Fire Lotus Katana with its blueprint and the Firebreath weapon charm, and Discharge adds the Discharge Machete and the VNC weapon charm.
Editions and prices
On Steam, The Beast costs $59.99, the Deluxe Edition $69.99 and the RL Definitive Edition $89.99. The Deluxe Edition adds the soundtrack, the wallpaper pack, the tourist map and the Prepper Bundle, with the Prepper Outfit, the Survivalist SMG and the Roadhog, and those extras are sold only through the Deluxe Edition and the $9.99 Standard to Deluxe Upgrade. These were the prices on Oct. 19, 2026.
Pre-orders came with the Hero of Harran Bundle, with the Ultimate Survivor Outfit, the Harran Combat Knife, The Follower crossbow and the In Jade’s Memory pistol, all nods to the first game. Steam lists it without a price.
Every free update
Techland laid out an 11-week roadmap on Oct. 24, 2025, and Update 1.4 on Nov. 27, 2025, its biggest update at the time, added New Game+, Legend Levels, ray tracing on PC, new finishers and more than 400 improvements. The Nightmare Experience followed on Dec. 17, 2025, with a new difficulty, the Alpha Volatile, a hunger system and a draining flashlight.
The anniversary update, 1.7, came out on Sept. 17, 2026, with a 2x XP weekend from Sept. 18 and the Call of The Beast event from Sept. 21, three weeks of global goals. In week three, players had to wipe out 50 million enemies together, and they hit the goal in the final hours to unlock the Styled Crane skin. Techland gave players until Oct. 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. CEST to claim the event rewards and Crane’s Anniversary Drops.
What Techland is doing next
In October 2026, Techland announced personalized 3D spatial sound for The Beast and Dying Light 2 Stay Human through a partnership with Embody, with a 14-day free trial at launch, and CEO Paweł Marchewka answered fan questions in a Discord session on Oct. 14, 2026. Dying Light has been played by more than 50 million people since 2015, by Techland’s count.
