Doom: The Dark Ages has its campaign DLC, and Premium Edition owners already have it. Here’s what Revelations adds, what it costs and whether more is coming.
When did the Doom: The Dark Ages DLC come out?
On July 7, 2026. id Software and Bethesda released Revelations, a new campaign expansion, for $19.99 on Steam, about 14 months after the base game launched on May 14, 2025. It arrived together with the free Update 4, and two hotfixes followed on July 14 and July 29, 2026.
The base game costs $49.99 on Steam. The Premium Edition, at $69.99, includes the base game, the Revelations campaign DLC, a digital artbook and soundtrack and the Divinity Skin Pack, with matching skins for the Doom Slayer, the dragon and the Atlan. Players who bought the standard edition can get the same extras with the Premium Upgrade for $24.99, or buy Revelations alone for $19.99. Both premium versions went on sale at launch in May 2025, before the DLC had a date, so their buyers got Revelations automatically when it came out.
What’s in Revelations?
A new chapter of the story, with a tagline of “Hell freezes over.” In id Software’s description, a wounded and betrayed Slayer is thrown into a purgatory that can only be escaped by confronting haunting truths with the help of a mysterious ally, and must fight an abomination of the gods to free the Slayer’s followers. The expansion adds new levels with deeper puzzles, new demons and a new weapon, the Chain Spear, which id Software says rewards mastery with more power and mobility, along with a Perfect Dodge setting for dashing with it.

Revelations also extends the Ripatorium, the game’s arena mode, with three new arenas, Hell’s Core, Osseus and Classic, all of the expansion’s demons, a fully upgraded loadout with the spear and new suit perks, Revelations tracks in the jukebox and six encounter presets made by id Software. That content unlocks after completing the Master Arenas. Beating specific content in the campaign also unlocks HUD styles themed like previous Doom games.
What did the free Update 4 add?
Update 4 came out for everyone on the same day, with Ripatorium 3.0 at its center: shorter passcodes for sharing encounters, saving and loading personal presets, a continuous spawn mode and new settings for health, ammo and Berserk pickups. It also rebalanced several weapons and gave the Cyberdemon a new knockback attack with its wings.

It’s the fourth major update since launch. Update 1 came out on June 5, 2025, Update 2 on Aug. 7, 2025, and Update 3 on Nov. 18, 2025.
Will there be a second DLC?
id Software hasn’t announced one. Steam lists a single campaign DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages, and the Premium Edition describes one campaign DLC rather than a season of them. That’s different from Doom Eternal, which got two campaign expansions: The Ancient Gods Part One on Oct. 20, 2020, and Part Two on March 18, 2021.
