Anomalith release date: Oct. 28 on PS5, Switch 2 and PC, at $49.99, with a free demo

FuRyu’s anomaly shooter has passed 120,000 Steam wishlists, and it lands just before Halloween. Here’s when Anomalith comes out, what each edition costs and what the demo shows.

When does Anomalith come out?

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, in the US, on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam. FuRyu dates the launch Oct. 29 in Japan, and the Nintendo eShop and Steam both list Oct. 28 for US players. The game is rated Teen by the ESRB, for Language and Violence.

PS5 players can start sooner. Pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe Edition on the PlayStation Store unlocks 48 hours of early access, a bonus FuRyu offers only on PS5. Interest is high: Anomalith passed 120,000 Steam wishlists on Oct. 20.

Price and editions

The Standard Edition costs $49.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition $69.99 on the Nintendo eShop. FuRyu sells the same two editions on PS5 and Steam. Expected price: $49.99 and $69.99 on PS5 and Steam too, our estimate, matching the eShop.

The Digital Deluxe Edition adds an 80-page digital art book, a digital mini soundtrack and the Anomaly Zone Countermeasures Office DLC set: three Armed Schoolgirl outfit sets, a semi-automatic sniper rifle, a double-barreled shotgun, a prototype handgun and a set of ammo, sedatives and other consumables.

In Japan, FuRyu also sells a physical edition and a limited Danger Zone Countermeasures Office box. The English site lists digital editions only.

Pre-order bonuses and the deadline

Pre-orders come with a collaboration side mission based on Lost Property Control Organization, a matching outfit set and the T-6407J drone skin, plus a development materials set. PS5 and Switch 2 pre-orders also add an exclusive outfit, in blue on PS5 and in red on Switch 2, and a Diver item set. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Japan time on Oct. 28, which is 10:59 a.m. ET that day. On Steam, the early purchase bonus runs from Oct. 29 to Nov. 11, Japan time.

The free demo

The demo is free on PS5, Switch 2 and Steam, and FuRyu counts more than 50,000 play sessions across the three platforms. Steam players got a limited-time early demo at the start of August, and FuRyu has kept updating it: after the Oct. 7 patch, clearing the demo lets you develop one of the three Armed Schoolgirl outfit sets from the Digital Deluxe Edition. Anomalith is part of Steam Next Fest, which runs until Oct. 26, the game’s last event before launch.

Story and setting

Japan, sometime in the near future, starts losing places to Anomaly Zones that appear without warning. Reona Minazuki, a 17-year-old who loses best friend Arisa Kato when a mall anomalizes around them, becomes a Diver for the government-backed Anomaly Zone Countermeasures Office. On the first dive, every other Diver falls, a strange power awakens in Reona, and the search for Arisa leads into the heart of the zones.

The setting leans on liminal spaces and Showa-era retro style. The cast includes operator Yuiga Koda, office chief Kyoka Sudo and research head Imari Fushimi, with Japanese voices led by Hitomi Ueda as Reona and English text. Romeo Tanaka wrote the scenario, MON designed the characters and Yuka Kitamura composed the music.

How Anomalith plays

Each dive is a run into an anomalous space: an apartment complex with inverted gravity, a twisting hallway, a shopping street that multiplies without end. You fight creatures called Anomalies with guns, manage ammunition and choose what loot to carry out before extraction, then return to base to restock and upgrade.

Reona has 12 Anomalization skills that support gunfights and can turn a battle. Attachments customize each firearm, Artifacts from the zones raise your stats, and gear is split into nine parts, with every costume piece affecting stats. Dive Reports document each Anomaly you defeat, and side missions fill in the cast’s backstories. On Switch 2, the game runs in TV, tabletop and handheld modes.

Which version should you buy?

Pick PS5 if you want to play first: the Digital Deluxe pre-order is the only way to start 48 hours early. Pick Switch 2 to take the dives on the go in handheld mode, with Save Data Cloud backups through Nintendo Switch Online. On PC, Steam lists Windows 11, 12 GB of memory, a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 5500 XT and 40 GB of storage as the minimum, and an RTX 2060 or RX 5700 XT with 16 GB of memory as recommended. The demo runs on all three, so try it on the platform you plan to buy.
