Xiaomi YU9 release date: Xiaomi's big seven-seat SUV went on sale in China on Sept. 7 as the Pengcheng N90 Max

Xiaomi hasn't confirmed a car called the YU9. The big seven-seat SUV reported under that name went on sale in China on Sept. 7, 2026, as the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, from CNY 269,900, and the first deliveries took place on Sept. 12. It's an extended-range SUV: a 76kWh battery gives it 464 km, or 288 miles, of electric range on China's CLTC test, and a gas-powered generator stretches that to 1,705 km. The N90 Max is part of Pengcheng, Xiaomi's new line of large SUVs, which also includes a five-seat N70 and an N90 Max Explorer Edition with a pop-up roof. Xiaomi doesn't sell cars in the US and hasn't announced the Pengcheng for any market outside China.

There’s no Xiaomi YU9, at least not by that name. The big seven-seat SUV people have been searching for went on sale in China on Sept. 7, 2026, as the Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max, from CNY 269,900, and owners have been driving it since Sept. 12. Don’t expect it in a US showroom: Xiaomi doesn’t sell cars in the US.

When does the Xiaomi YU9 come out?

It’s already out in China, under a different name. Xiaomi pulled the covers off a new line of large SUVs called Pengcheng on July 30, 2026, together with its new Kunlun vehicle architecture. Two models came first, the seven-seat N90 Max and the five-seat N70 Max, and small-deposit orders opened in the Xiaomi EV app the same day, with the N90 Max at a pre-sale price of CNY 299,900.

On Sept. 2, Xiaomi set the launch for Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. Beijing time, or 7 a.m. ET, the same evening it launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold phone. Then came the surprise: Xiaomi priced the N90 Max at CNY 269,900, CNY 30,000 below the pre-sale price.

The first owners got their keys at handover events in Xuzhou on Sept. 12, Shanghai on Sept. 13, Hangzhou on Sept. 14 and Chengdu on Sept. 15. Xiaomi says deliveries are now under way across China, and its launch offers ended on Oct. 7.

Is the Xiaomi YU9 called the N90 Max?

Yes. Xiaomi has never used the YU9 name, which would have matched its SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. Instead, it gave its big extended-range SUVs a line of their own, Xiaomi Pengcheng, with model names that start with N. In Xiaomi’s official photos, the cars wear “Skynomad” lettering across the nose, and Xiaomi sells them on its car website and app alongside the SU7 and YU7.

The Pengcheng line has four versions: the N70 Pro and N70 Max five-seaters, the seven-seat N90 Max and the N90 Max Explorer Edition, a five-seater with a pop-up roof.

Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max price

The N90 Max starts at CNY 269,900 in China, and the N90 Max Explorer Edition at CNY 299,900. Below them, the five-seat N70 Pro costs CNY 209,900 and the N70 Max CNY 239,900.

You order through the Xiaomi EV app or in Xiaomi’s car stores. Early buyers got the best deal: Xiaomi’s launch offers, worth up to CNY 81,000 on the N90 Max, ended with orders placed by midnight on Oct. 7.

Xiaomi Pengcheng N90 Max specs and range

This is a big car. The N90 Max is 5.28 meters, or 17.3 feet, long, with seven seats in a 2+2+3 layout. Two electric motors drive all four wheels with 310 kW, about 416 hp, enough for 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 km/h, or 118 mph.

It’s an extended-range SUV, so the wheels are always driven by electricity. A 76kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery gives 464 km, or 288 miles, of electric range on China’s CLTC test, and fast charging adds up to 285 km of range in 15 minutes. For long trips, a gas generator with a 60-liter tank, or 15.9 gallons, stretches the total to 1,705 km, or 1,059 miles. With the battery run down, it uses 6.26 liters per 100 km, about 38 mpg.

The trunk holds 577 liters, or up to 1,831 liters with the seats folded. Air springs and adjustable dampers smooth the ride, and front and rear lidar sensors feed Xiaomi’s XLA driver assistance, standard on every version. There are 220-volt outlets inside, and the car can power outside devices at 6.6 kW.

Inside, the front seats can swivel to face the second row, up to four seats recline into a zero-gravity position, and a center console slides from the front row to the second. There’s a 9-liter fridge, a rear entertainment screen, a 25-speaker sound system with 4,890 watts and 12 airbags. It comes in six colors on 21-inch wheels, and Xiaomi says it can wade through 750 mm of water.

What’s the Xiaomi N90 Max Explorer Edition?

The Explorer Edition turns the N90 Max into a small camper. Its powered roof rises into a second level, with 2.29 meters of headroom inside, mesh windows and its own air vents, and the second row folds flat into a 1.87-meter bed at the push of a button. It has five seats instead of seven, a 30-inch projection screen and a heated wood-look floor. Xiaomi says the roof can only go up when the car is parked off public roads.

With the roof down, it stands 1,925 mm tall, and Xiaomi rates it at 462 km of electric range and 1,688 km combined on the CLTC test. It starts at CNY 299,900.

What about the smaller Xiaomi Pengcheng N70?

The N70 is the five-seat Pengcheng. The N70 Pro starts at CNY 209,900, with a 52kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and 210 kW, and reaches 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The N70 Max starts at CNY 239,900, with two motors, all-wheel drive, 310 kW, a 76kWh battery and 505 km of electric range on the CLTC test. Its trunk holds 1,203 liters, expandable to 2,425 liters.

Will the Xiaomi YU9 come to the US?

Not as things stand. Xiaomi doesn’t sell cars in the US, and it hasn’t announced the Pengcheng line for any market outside China. Xiaomi did show the N90 Max to Dallas Mavericks players in Macao on Oct. 8, during the team’s trip to China. For Xiaomi’s phones, see our page on the Xiaomi 18, and for another new car, the Tesla Cybercab.

This page is updated as soon as Xiaomi announces new Pengcheng models, price changes or a launch outside China.
