How to watch the Roadster livestream
Tesla announced the stream on its official X account, @Tesla, and hasn’t said where else it’ll run. It also hasn’t named the venue or said what the demo will include, beyond the fact that the event takes place outdoors. Elon Musk shared the announcement with a three-word comment: “Timing is everything.”
Why the Oct. 1 event was postponed
Tesla first teased the event on Sept. 12 with a post that read “Go for launch” and an image dated 10.01. On Sept. 28, it said it had been tracking the weather closely with local meteorologists and had decided to reschedule, because severe conditions were predicted and the event can only be held outdoors. It moved the show to Oct. 15, also a Thursday.
What Tesla has promised: 1.9 seconds and 620 miles
Tesla’s Roadster page lists these targets for the car. It hasn’t said whether the Roadster it shows on Oct. 15 will match them.
Tesla calls the Roadster an all-electric supercar built around aerodynamic efficiency, and says it fits seating for four. Its lightweight glass roof comes off and stores in the trunk for open-air driving.
Price and reservations: $50,000 to hold a spot
Tesla hasn’t announced the Roadster’s final price. Its reservation page asks for $50,000: $5,000 by credit card and a $45,000 wire transfer within 10 days. Tesla says reservations aren’t final until the wire transfer arrives.
When can you buy one?
Tesla hasn’t given a delivery date. It unveiled the new Roadster and started taking reservations in 2017. In its fourth-quarter 2025 update in January 2026, Tesla said preparations were continuing in North America for production of the next-generation Roadster. Its second-quarter 2026 update, from July 22, lists the Roadster as in design development, with the factory location still to be decided.
Tesla’s next scheduled update is its third-quarter report on Wednesday, Oct. 21, with a webcast at 5:30 p.m. ET. For Tesla’s humanoid robot, see our page on the Tesla Optimus price and release date.
