Trine 6 release date: March 4, 2027, on PC, PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and Switch, with a playtest from Oct. 27

The next Trine adventure is due in March 2027, and a second playtest starts Oct. 27. Here’s when Trine 6: Together in Time comes out, why it was delayed and what’s new.

When does Trine 6 come out?

On Thursday, March 4, 2027, on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo eShop lists separate Switch and Switch 2 versions with that date. As of Oct. 17, no store shows a price, and Frozenbyte and Cooldown Games haven’t announced one or any special editions. Expected price: about $29.99. That’s our estimate, based on Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy, which costs $29.99 on Steam, and there’s no official price yet.

Why Trine 6 was delayed

The game was due on Sept. 17, 2026. On Aug. 24, 2026, after a private playtest in July, Frozenbyte moved it to March 4, 2027. The studio said 93% of survey respondents rated the playtest 4 out of 5 or better, but players also flagged the camera, combat and online play. The extra time goes to a second puzzle mode across every level, stronger hero abilities, a more forgiving Easy difficulty, new camera behavior for local and online co-op, better tutorials and launch on GOG alongside the other platforms.

The second playtest starts Oct. 27

A second private playtest runs on Steam from Oct. 27 through Nov. 2, 2026, with some levels in the new Classic Puzzle Mode and an improved Freestyle Puzzle Mode. If you played in July, you’re already in, and new players can sign up. Everyone accepted gets three extra keys for friends, and players who complete the survey are entered to win one of 25 Steam keys for the full game.

Story and heroes

Two young adventurers, Moira and Adrius, botch a heist and accidentally bind their fate to the realm’s greatest heroes. Together with Amadeus, Zoya and Pontius, they cross fairytale landscapes to restore a powerful magic gone awry before a dangerous warlock comes to take it back.

You play five heroes. Amadeus the Wizard summons objects and moves the world with magic, Zoya the Thief fires arrows and uses a rope, and Pontius the Knight fights with a hammer and uses a shield to protect and launch allies. The newcomers are Moira the Acrobat, who chains kick combos and swings with a ribbon, and Adrius the Squire, who fights with a spear or plants it as a platform. Every hero can use the new Time-Slow ability to line up jumps and dodge attacks.

With the delay, Frozenbyte planned to make each hero more distinct: Amadeus levitating from the start and conjuring a plank, Pontius getting a magnetic hammer that pulls objects back, and Moira leaving a trampoline any hero can use.

Two puzzle modes, co-op and crossplay

Classic Puzzle Mode brings back structured puzzles built around specific hero abilities and character swaps, like earlier Trine games. Freestyle Puzzle Mode lets you stick with your favorite hero and find your own way, with more focus on platforming and timing. Both work alone or in co-op, and you can switch between them at any time without losing progress.

Up to four players can play together on one screen or online with crossplay, and you can even pick duplicate heroes. Combat difficulty is adjustable, and boss fights mix combat, traversal and environmental challenges. The game has full voice acting in English, French and German, and text in 17 languages. On PC, Steam lists Windows 10, an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G or Intel Core i3-10100, 16 GB of memory, a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570 and 10 GB of storage as the minimum.
