Stardew Valley 1.7 release date: the next major update is in development with no date yet, and Clint and Sandy become marriage candidates

Stardew Valley’s next big update is coming, but ConcernedApe isn’t putting a date on it. Here’s everything the developer has said.

When does Stardew Valley 1.7 come out?

There’s no date. In a post for the game’s 10-year anniversary on Feb. 26, 2026, ConcernedApe said a new major content update, 1.7, was in the works, but that it had no release date and was simply in development. In an earlier post, on Sept. 2, 2025, the developer called this a no-release-date approach and said a small team was working on 1.7 at a relaxed pace.

For comparison, ConcernedApe announced the date for 1.6 on Feb. 26, 2024, the game’s 8th anniversary, and released it on PC on March 19, 2024, about three weeks later. So a short gap between the date announcement and the launch is possible this time too, though ConcernedApe hasn’t said whether 1.7 will work the same way.

What’s in the 1.7 update?

ConcernedApe has kept the details close. The stated goal is to add more depth to areas of the game that are somewhat lacking, without bloating it with too many systems: “More depth, but not necessarily more complexity.”

The one confirmed feature is new marriage candidates. In the anniversary post, ConcernedApe said you’ll be able to marry Clint, the blacksmith, and Sandy, who runs the Oasis shop in the desert. The same post said Stardew Valley had sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

Will 1.7 come to consoles and mobile at the same time?

ConcernedApe hasn’t said. The last major update didn’t. 1.6 came out on PC on March 19, 2024, and ConcernedApe announced on Sept. 22, 2024, that the console and mobile versions would follow on Nov. 4, 2024, at version 1.6.9. The last PC patch, 1.6.15, came out on Dec. 20, 2024, and the matching console patch reached Xbox and PlayStation in February 2025 and Switch on Feb. 26, 2025.

Does 1.7 slow down Haunted Chocolatier?

A little, maybe. In the September 2025 post, ConcernedApe said a team has helped with Stardew Valley updates since 1.3, and that for 1.7 the developer was taking more of a creative director role to keep most of the focus on Haunted Chocolatier, ConcernedApe’s next game. Eventually ConcernedApe will need to work more directly on 1.7, including the music, and said that might not happen until after Haunted Chocolatier comes out, with no guarantees.
