Deltarune Chapter 6 release date: 2027, and it's coming out on its own
Deltarune Chapter 6 should come out in 2027, Toby Fox wrote in the summer newsletter of July 28, 2026, but there's no exact date yet. It will be released by itself, not together with Chapter 7, and it's a shorter, more straightforward chapter than the last few. Chapter 5 came out on June 24, 2026, and more chapters are planned as free updates for everyone who owns Deltarune.
Deltarune Chapter 6 is coming next year, and it won’t have to wait for Chapter 7. Here’s what Toby Fox has said so far.
When does Deltarune Chapter 6 come out?
In 2027, if things go to plan. In the summer newsletter of July 28, 2026, Toby Fox wrote that Chapter 6 should be ready to release in 2027, without naming a month or a day.
For comparison, Chapters 3 and 4 came out together on June 4, 2025, and Chapter 5 followed on June 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. ET. Chapter 5’s date was announced in a Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026, just 15 days before launch, so the exact Chapter 6 date may also come late.
Will Chapter 6 come out with Chapter 7?
No. Toby Fox wrote that Chapter 6 will be released by itself. Chapter 7 is in the plans too: in the June 9 newsletter, Toby Fox said it wasn’t unrealistic for some staff to start on it before the end of 2026.
Like the chapters before it, Chapter 6 is planned as a free update. Deltarune’s store page says more chapters are coming as free updates, and the game costs $24.99 on Steam. Chapter 5 came out on PC, Mac, Switch, Switch 2, PS4 and PS5.
What is Chapter 6 like?
It’s a shorter, straightforward chapter that focuses on one part of the story. Chapter 5 finished the setup for Chapters 6 and 7, and from here, Toby Fox promises “no more wacky silly adventures,” with the story starting to pay off what it has built up. Many things still won’t be touched on in Chapter 6, but one thing will be made clear.
Toby Fox also asked players not to judge the pacing until the end of Chapter 7, and told Fangamer not to plan much merchandise for Chapters 6 and 7.
How far along is Chapter 6?
It’s moving quickly, Toby Fox says. By June 9, 2026, the team had built all the basic gimmicks of the chapter, such as climbing and puzzles, and the normal enemies and their attacks were mostly done. Toby Fox called it easier to make than the other chapters.
By July 28, Toby Fox had written a few more sequences for the last third of the chapter, and the rooms were being rearranged to fit a new structure. Once that’s tied together, the team can play a rough draft from start to finish. The chapter’s boss and polishing the cutscenes are the main things left.
