Dawn of War 4 release date: Dec. 3 on PC, with Commander Edition early access from Nov. 30

The real-time strategy series returns to its base-building roots in December, and Commander Edition owners get in first. Here’s when Dawn of War IV comes out, what it costs and what’s in it.

When does Dawn of War 4 come out?

Thursday, Dec. 3, 2026, on PC through Steam. Deep Silver repeated the date with its game overview trailer on Oct. 21, and the Commander Edition opens the game three days earlier, on Monday, Nov. 30. Deep Silver hasn’t announced a release time, and Steam lists only the date.

It’s the first new Dawn of War since Dawn of War III in April 2017. KING Art, the German studio behind Iron Harvest, develops it, and Deep Silver publishes it under license from Games Workshop.

Dawn of War 4 price and editions

Steam sells two editions in the US:

The Commander Edition adds the digital soundtrack and the Year One Expansion. Steam describes it as the Blood Ravens Story Prologue and the Aftermath Campaign Expansion, which adds a new playable faction. Deep Silver hasn’t named that faction, and its Year 1 roadmap on Steam puts the prologue around spring 2027 and Aftermath around summer 2027, subject to change.

Is Dawn of War 4 on consoles?

Deep Silver hasn’t announced a PS5 or Xbox version. Steam lists Dawn of War IV for Windows only, and the system requirements still read “coming soon.”

Factions, campaigns and modes

Four factions fight over Kronus, the planet from the Dark Crusade expansion: the Space Marines, the Orks, the Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus, which makes its series debut. The Space Marine side brings back the Blood Ravens, led by Captain Cyrus and Chief Librarian Jonah Orion, and adds the Dark Angels.

After launch, the first year brings free updates with Crusade Mode, new maps and modes, more Commanders and a Mission Editor.

Closed beta and first impressions

A closed beta runs from Oct. 21 to 26, 2026, for players who registered on the official site and got a spot. On Oct. 23, Deep Silver said press and creators spent three weeks with its biggest preview build so far, with the Astra Militarum and Space Marine prologues, the full Ork and Adeptus Mechanicus campaigns, more than 30 missions and 1v1 Skirmish.
