Control 2 came out on Sept. 24, 2026, under the name Control Resonant. Remedy Entertainment released it digitally on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, at $59.99 for the standard edition. Physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X followed on Oct. 15, 2026, and a Mac version is planned for later in 2026.

If you’ve been waiting for Control 2, it’s already here, just under a different name. Here’s when it came out, where to play it and what it costs.
When did Control 2 come out?
Control 2 launched on Sept. 24, 2026, as Control Resonant. Remedy Entertainment revealed the sequel on Dec. 12, 2025, as a 2026 game, shared new gameplay details on Feb. 13, 2026, and announced the September release date on June 2, 2026.
It’s out digitally on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X arrived on Oct. 15, 2026, and Remedy says a Mac version for Steam and the App Store is coming later in 2026.
How much is Control Resonant?
The standard game costs $59.99. On Steam, the Digital Deluxe Edition is $69.99, and the deluxe content is also sold as a $10 upgrade. On disc, the Standard Edition is $59.99, and the $69.99 SteelBook Edition adds a SteelBook case, three fine art prints and a key art poster.
The game is selling well. Remedy said on Oct. 15 that Control Resonant passed 1 million copies, making it the fastest-selling game in Remedy’s history.
What Control Resonant is about
You play as Dylan Faden, the brother of Control’s hero, Jesse Faden. After years in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Control, Dylan steps into a warped Manhattan in the middle of a paranatural crisis, fighting with new powers and a shapeshifting melee weapon called the Aberrant while searching for Jesse, now the bureau’s director.
Remedy calls it an action-adventure RPG, with gravity anomalies that twist the city and add new angles to puzzles and combat. Creative director Mikael Kasurinen says the game took nearly seven years of team effort.
Should you play Control first?
You don’t have to. Kasurinen says new players can jump straight into the sequel. If you want the backstory anyway, Control Ultimate Edition lists at $39.99 on Steam, and it was on sale for $5.99 when we checked on Oct. 17, 2026.
