Remedy’s Control sequel just set a studio record. Here’s what the 1 million figure means, how fast it got there and what the game costs.

Remedy Entertainment announced on Oct. 15, 2026, that Control Resonant has passed 1 million copies sold worldwide. The game launched on Sept. 24, 2026, so it got there within three weeks, and Remedy called it the fastest-selling game in its 31-year history. Remedy didn’t share an exact total or say how sales split across PS5, Xbox and PC.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the number “a very strong start” and pointed to the timing, a launch into one of the most competitive windows in years. Gaudechon also said the game is bringing a significant number of new players into the Control series, not just longtime fans.

Why it’s a big deal for Remedy. Control Resonant is Remedy’s first self-published release of this scale. The studio developed and published the game itself, and Annapurna Pictures co-financed and co-produced it as part of a strategic partnership. On its investor site, Remedy says self-publishing lets it fully capture the commercial success of its games, and it’s working toward one release per year on average.

Gaudechon said Control and Alan Wake now give Remedy two established franchises, and that there’s a lot more to come from both. The other game Remedy lists as in development is the Max Payne 1 and 2 remake, and the company publishes its next business review, covering the third quarter, on Nov. 3, 2026.

Control Resonant price, platforms and editions. Control Resonant is out digitally on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with GeForce NOW support. On Steam, the standard game costs $59.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition costs $69.99.

Physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X arrived on Oct. 15, 2026. The Standard Edition is $59.99, and the $69.99 SteelBook Edition adds a SteelBook case, three fine art prints and a key art poster. A Mac version for Steam and the App Store is planned for later in 2026.

Yes. Control Resonant is the full sequel to Control. You play as Dylan Faden, the brother of the first game’s hero, Jesse Faden, in a reality-warped Manhattan overrun by a paranatural crisis. Dylan fights with paranatural powers and a shapeshifting melee weapon called the Aberrant while searching for Jesse, now the director of the Federal Bureau of Control.

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen said the game took nearly seven years of team effort, and that new players don’t need to have played the first game to jump in. For the short version of where and how to play, see our Control 2 release date guide.

This page is updated as soon as Remedy shares new sales figures for Control Resonant or a date for the Mac version.
