Ananta release date: Jan. 15, 2027, free to play on PS5, PC, iOS and Android

NetEase’s urban open-world RPG has a date for everyone at once. Here’s when Ananta comes out, where you can play it and what the official site has revealed.

When does Ananta come out?

On Friday, Jan. 15, 2027, worldwide. NetEase’s official site calls it the global release, and Steam, the PlayStation Store and Apple’s App Store all list Jan. 15, 2027. That’s the same day as Stranger Than Heaven, so mid-January is one of the busiest weeks of early 2027.

Which platforms is it on?

Ananta comes to PS5, PC through Steam, iOS and Android, and the official site also shows cloud play. On PS5, the PlayStation Store marks it PS5 Pro Enhanced. On iPhone and iPad, the App Store listing needs iOS 15 or later and carries a 12+ rating, and the ESRB rating is still pending on PlayStation.

There’s no Xbox or Switch version announced as of Oct. 17, 2026, and the Xbox store doesn’t list the game. Steam lists Windows 10 or 11 with the rest of the PC requirements still to be determined.

Is Ananta free?

Yes. Steam and the PlayStation Store list it as free to play, and the PlayStation Store says cosmetic items for character customization are sold as in-game purchases. Pre-registration is open on the official site, which tracks global sign-ups toward milestone rewards: 10,000 Golvent, the game’s money, 10 Clothing Dye, a Profile Card, 100 Jillion Vouchers, a character outfit and a Car Paint Selector.

What kind of game is it?

An urban open-world RPG. You arrive in Nova City as a stranger and build a reputation there, and a plane ticket takes you back to Chongxiao, your old home, where the story continues in Lingyun City. Steam’s description promises you can go anywhere you can see, by car, motorbike or boat, through the air or swinging between buildings, with martial arts fights in the streets and a 24-hour city full of events.

You play as many different characters, from an officer to a hacker to a gang leader, and assemble a team from the cast. Steam lists single-player and multiplayer, with online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer.

Characters and places

The official site introduces the Captain, the overworked head of a struggling task force called the ACD, along with Taffy and Richie of the ACD, Shi Ye, an old friend with plenty of tech, Seymour, a tracker usually found in an RV, and Wei Yinglong, Lingyun’s 21st Director, who also runs a temple. Its locations include Weilan Lake with the Bachong Pagoda, the riverside Mingpu District, Downtown Nova City, the tea town of Longqi Village and the Veluxity Zone, home to street racing and fight clubs.

Who is making it?
