RDNA 5 release date: AMD hasn't announced its next Radeon GPUs, and RDNA 4 is still current
There's no RDNA 5 release date, because AMD hasn't announced RDNA 5 or the Radeon graphics cards that would use it. As of Oct. 16, 2026, AMD's newest gaming GPUs are still its RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9000 series, which went on sale with the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 on March 6, 2025. The clearest hints about AMD's future graphics come from consoles: Xbox says its next console, Project Helix, runs on a custom AMD chip, and Sony's Project Amethyst partnership with AMD is behind the PS5 Pro's upgraded upscaler. None of the three companies has tied those projects to the name RDNA 5.

Radeon fans want to know what comes after RDNA 4. It’s now more than a year and a half old, and AMD still hasn’t named its next generation. Here’s what’s official.
Has AMD announced RDNA 5?
No. AMD hasn’t announced RDNA 5, a new Radeon RX series, a release date or prices. Its newest gaming GPUs are still the RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9000 series.
The closest AMD has come is its Financial Analyst Day on Nov. 11, 2025, where it said it shared extended roadmaps for gaming GPUs, along with CPUs and other chips. Its press release from that day doesn’t name a new Radeon generation or give dates.
What RDNA 4 brought, and what it costs
AMD unveiled RDNA 4 on Feb. 28, 2025, with the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, both with 16GB of memory, redesigned ray tracing accelerators and new AI accelerators. They went on sale on March 6, 2025, at suggested prices of $599 and $549. At Computex in May 2025, AMD added the RX 9060 XT, at $299 for 8GB and $349 for 16GB.
AMD has kept adding to RDNA 4 instead of replacing it. Its FSR Redstone features, including machine learning upscaling and frame generation, arrived in December 2025, and this year AMD made the RX 9070 GRE available in more countries.
Where AMD’s next graphics show up first
The clearest hints about AMD’s future graphics come from its console partners. Xbox said at the Game Developers Conference on March 11, 2026, that its next console, Project Helix, runs on a custom AMD chip co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FSR, and that alpha hardware goes to developers starting in 2027. Our Project Helix page tracks it.

Sony’s Project Amethyst partnership with AMD is behind the upgraded PSSR upscaler that reached the PS5 Pro on Feb. 27, 2026, and Sony’s Mark Cerny says PC players see the results in AMD’s FSR 4. Sony hasn’t announced a PS6 or said which AMD technology it will use, and our PS6 page follows that. Microsoft, Sony and AMD haven’t called any of this RDNA 5.
Rumors, and what to watch next
Reports say AMD’s board partners expect the first RDNA 5 cards in 2027 at the earliest, and leaked specs show up regularly. AMD hasn’t confirmed a window, specs or names.
The next official AMD dates are its third-quarter results on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and CES in January. For the other side of the GPU race, see our page on the RTX 6090, and for AMD’s next CPUs, our Zen 6 page.
This page is updated as soon as AMD announces its next Radeon graphics cards, RDNA 5 or a release date.
