Vision Pro 2 release date: Apple hasn't announced it, and the M5 Vision Pro is its newest headset
There's no Vision Pro 2 release date, because Apple hasn't announced a Vision Pro 2. As of Oct. 16, 2026, Apple's newest headset is Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip, announced on Oct. 15, 2025, and in Apple Stores since Oct. 22, 2025, from $3,499. Apple kept the name and the price and changed the chip, the battery life and the band. The first Vision Pro was unveiled on June 5, 2023, and went on sale in the US on Feb. 2, 2024, so Apple has shipped two versions in under two years without ever calling one a sequel.

Search for Vision Pro 2 and you’ll find plenty of guesses. Apple’s own record is simpler: it has sold two versions of Vision Pro, and neither one is called Vision Pro 2.
Has Apple announced a Vision Pro 2?
No. Apple hasn’t announced a Vision Pro 2, so there’s no release date and no price. Its newest headset is Apple Vision Pro with M5, announced on Oct. 15, 2025, and in Apple Stores since Oct. 22, 2025. It starts at $3,499 in the US, with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage.
The M5 upgrade Apple shipped instead
The M5 version is the closest thing to a second generation so far. Apple says it renders 10% more pixels on its micro-OLED displays, can raise the refresh rate to 120Hz, and lasts up to two and a half hours of general use and three hours of video on a charge. It also came with the softer Dual Knit Band.
For players, the bigger change is the GPU. The M5 chip adds hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and Vision Pro now supports the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, with motion tracking, finger touch detection and vibration. Apple launched it alongside games like Control and Sniper Elite 4.
It went on sale on Oct. 22, 2025, in the US, Australia, Canada, China mainland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the UAE and the UK.
How Vision Pro got here
Apple unveiled the first Vision Pro at WWDC on June 5, 2023, with an M2 chip, 23 million pixels across two displays and up to two hours of battery life. Preorders opened on Jan. 19, 2024, and it went on sale in the US on Feb. 2, 2024, at $3,499 with 256GB.
That’s the pattern so far: same name, same starting price, a new chip about 20 months later. Apple hasn’t said what comes next.
Is Vision Pro 2 cancelled?
Claims that Apple has paused or shelved a next Vision Pro keep coming up. Apple hasn’t confirmed any of them, and it doesn’t comment on unreleased products.
