OnePlus 16 release date: out in China now, and OnePlus isn't bringing it to the US

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 16 in China on Oct. 12, 2026, from CNY 5,999. OnePlus said in July it will no longer launch new products in North America or Europe, and it hasn’t announced the phone for India.

When does the OnePlus 16 come out?

It’s already out in China. OnePlus launched the OnePlus 16 there on Oct. 12, 2026, and sales opened at 10 a.m. Beijing time on Oct. 13, which was 10 p.m. ET on Oct. 12. OnePlus China president Li Jie said it sold more than 70,000 units in the first hour. It’s on sale on OnePlus’s China store, and OnePlus hasn’t announced a launch in any other country.

OnePlus 16 price in China

OnePlus lists the OnePlus 16 at CNY 5,999 to CNY 8,499. Its China store currently sells every version for CNY 300 less. The phone comes in three colors: silver Tomorrow Starlight, copper-colored Mars Masterpiece and dark Dark Forest. Mars Masterpiece comes only with 512GB of storage.

Will the OnePlus 16 come to the US or Europe?

OnePlus hasn’t announced it for either, and it has said it won’t launch new products there. On July 16, 2026, OnePlus said it will no longer launch new products in North America or Europe, and that existing owners keep software updates, security patches, warranty and repair service. With Android 17, those phones move from OxygenOS to ColorOS. OnePlus’s US store still sells the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R and OnePlus 13, but has no OnePlus 16 page, and its UK website now promotes Oppo’s Find X10 series alongside the OnePlus 15.

Importing a China model has a catch: it lacks 4G LTE bands 12, 13, 14 and 71 and 5G band n71, which US carriers rely on for coverage, so signal would be weaker in many places.

Is the OnePlus 16 coming to India?

OnePlus hasn’t announced it. It says its India business continues as usual, and its India website still sells the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R, with no OnePlus 16 page. Both reports on India come from the same Indian tipster, who said in July that the phone would skip India, then said on Oct. 9 that it might arrive in December or early 2027. OnePlus hasn’t confirmed either.

OnePlus 16 specs: a 185Hz screen and a 9,000mAh battery

OnePlus pitches the OnePlus 16 at mobile gamers. Its 6.78-inch flat screen runs at 1Hz to 165Hz outside games and up to 185Hz in supported games, and OnePlus adds its own chips for networking, display and touch, with 520Hz touch sampling. Inside is a top version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, the same tier Xiaomi uses in the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.

OnePlus says the battery keeps at least 80% of its capacity after five years. The phone ships with ColorOS, the software Oppo uses on its phones, not the OxygenOS that OnePlus phones ran outside China.
