Nokia 2360 Flip: HMD's 2G flip phone with an SOS button went on sale in the Philippines, and India has no launch date as of Nov. 4

HMD's Nokia 2360 Flip, a 2G flip phone with an orange SOS button, a removable 1,450 mAh battery and a free app that lets a relative set it up by text message, was on sale in the Philippines by Nov. 3 at PHP 2,790, about $44, according to press reports. HMD hadn't announced an India launch or price as of Nov. 4, and its India site has no page for the phone. We expect ₹3,999, about $43, our estimate, below the Nokia 2660 Flip 4G that HMD's India store sells at ₹5,199, about $55.

HMD’s Nokia 2360 Flip is a phone meant to be set up by somebody else. Here’s what it does, what it needs from your network, and what we expect it to cost if it reaches India.

What is the Nokia 2360 Flip?

A 2G flip phone aimed at older owners and at children. HMD’s international page lists it with a 2.8-inch main screen and a 1.77-inch outer screen, and it comes in Charcoal, Burgundy Red and Teal. Coverage began on Oct. 29. Press reports put it on sale in Malaysia by Oct. 31 and in the Philippines by Nov. 3, at PHP 2,790, about $44, and a spec listing dates the release to Nov. 2. HMD’s international page gives no date or price.

How do the SOS button and Family Assist work?

The SOS button sits on the back. Hold it for 3 seconds and the phone calls a pre-set number and texts up to five contacts. HMD’s footnote says it isn’t a substitute for public emergency services.

Family Assist is a free app that runs on the relative’s phone. Google Play carries it in India. Apple’s store lists it in the US, the UK and Australia, and it wasn’t in India’s App Store on Nov. 4, so a family in India needs an Android phone to run it. It sends its changes by SMS, so the Nokia needs no data plan, and it adds contacts, sets reminders, changes the volume and configures the SOS button. Both phones need to be able to send texts, and SMS charges can apply.

Parents get a separate set of controls with no app at all. School Mode leaves only the clock and emergency calls, a whitelist limits calls and texts, and a Family PIN guards the settings and blocks apps.

Will the Nokia 2360 Flip work in India?

The bands fit, with one big exception. GSM 900 and 1800 are the bands India’s 2G networks use, so Airtel, Vi and BSNL SIMs have a network to join. Jio runs no 2G at all, so a Jio SIM won’t connect. India’s operators disagree about how long 2G stays: press reports say Jio has pushed for a move off 2G and Vi asked the regulator in 2024 not to set a shutdown date, and we found no shutdown date from Airtel, Vi or BSNL. That matters for a phone with no 4G fallback. In the US, no carrier has run 2G since T-Mobile’s shutdown on Aug. 3, 2026, according to press reports, so this phone has no network to join there.

How much will the Nokia 2360 Flip cost in India?

Expected India price: ₹3,999, about $43, our estimate. HMD hadn’t announced an India price as of Nov. 4, and its own pages show no price in any country we checked. The Philippine price, PHP 2,790, works out to about ₹4,160, or $44. The closest India comparison is on HMD’s own India store, which sells the Nokia 2660 Flip 4G at ₹5,199, about $55, against a list price of ₹5,899. The 2360 Flip gives up 4G for 2G, so we put it about ₹1,200 lower.

For a smartphone in India, our ColorOS 17 rollout in India page lists which Oppo, OnePlus and Realme models get the new software and when.

This page is updated as soon as HMD confirms an India launch, a price or a release date.

FAQ

Will the Nokia 2360 Flip launch in India?

HMD hadn’t said as of Nov. 4. Its international page lists the phone with a note to check local availability, its India site has no page for it, and press reports had it on sale in Malaysia by Oct. 31 and the Philippines by Nov. 3. If it comes, we expect ₹3,999, about $43, our estimate.

Does the Nokia 2360 Flip work on Jio?

Jio runs no 2G network, so a Jio SIM has nothing to connect to on this 2G-only phone. Airtel, Vi and BSNL run 2G on the bands it supports.

Does the SOS button call emergency services?

It calls a number you pre-set and texts up to five contacts. HMD’s footnote says the feature isn’t a substitute for public emergency services.
