Red Dead Redemption 3 release date: Rockstar hasn't announced the game, and GTA 6 comes first
There's no Red Dead Redemption 3 release date because Rockstar Games hasn't announced the game. As of Oct. 16, 2026, neither Rockstar nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has confirmed a third Red Dead, shown a trailer or named a window. Take-Two's latest quarterly filing, from Aug. 7, 2026, names only one upcoming Rockstar game, Grand Theft Auto VI, on Nov. 19, 2026. Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold more than 85 million copies, and Rockstar says it keeps building sequels to its established series, but it hasn't said which one comes next.

Red Dead Redemption 3 isn’t real yet, at least not officially. Rockstar hasn’t announced it, and its whole calendar points at one date: GTA 6 on Nov. 19. Here’s what’s actually confirmed about the future of Red Dead, and what isn’t.
Is Red Dead Redemption 3 coming?
Rockstar Games hasn’t announced a third Red Dead. There’s no title, no trailer, no platforms and no window, and as of Oct. 16, 2026, the company’s only scheduled release is Grand Theft Auto VI on Nov. 19, 2026.
Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, said as much in its latest quarterly report, filed with the SEC on Aug. 7, 2026. It names GTA VI as the Rockstar game coming this fiscal year, and nothing after it. It also describes Rockstar’s strategy: a limited number of games known for quality and staying power, which the studio can build sequels and extra content for. Red Dead fits that description, but Take-Two doesn’t name any sequel.
How big Red Dead Redemption 2 still is
The case for a sequel is mostly a sales number. Take-Two says Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold more than 85 million copies worldwide since it launched on Oct. 26, 2018, on PS4 and Xbox One. It came to PC a year later.

The game is still selling eight years on. On Steam, it’s $14.99 right now, 75% off its $59.99 price. Rockstar hasn’t released a native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version, though the game runs on both through backward compatibility.
Rockstar has put more work into the first game lately. Red Dead Redemption came to PC in October 2024, and the Nintendo eShop now sells a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for $49.99, with a free upgrade for owners of the Switch version.
How long Rockstar takes between Red Dead games
The gap between the first two games was long. Red Dead Redemption came out in May 2010, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed about eight and a half years later. Rockstar first teased the sequel in October 2016, two years before launch.

Rockstar also alternates its biggest series. GTA V came out in 2013, Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, and GTA VI arrives in 2026, eight years after that. GTA VI’s first trailer arrived in December 2023, almost three years before its release date. If Rockstar follows its own pattern, a reveal of any new Red Dead would come long before the game does.
Rumors and fan trailers
Searches for a Red Dead Redemption 3 trailer mostly lead to fan-made videos. Rockstar hasn’t released any footage, and none of the setting, character or timing rumors around a sequel has been confirmed. Rockstar also hasn’t confirmed reports that a new Red Dead is in early development.
Take-Two’s next earnings report is on Nov. 9, 2026, ten days before GTA VI. Earnings days have carried Rockstar news before: Take-Two moved GTA VI to Nov. 19 on the day of its Nov. 6, 2025, report. Our GTA 6 release date page covers what’s confirmed for November, and our GTA 6 trailer 3 page tracks Rockstar’s next video.
This page is updated as soon as Rockstar or Take-Two says anything official about a new Red Dead game.
