Light No Fire release date: no date or platforms yet, nearly 3 years after the reveal
Light No Fire doesn't have a release date, a release window or a price. When does Light No Fire come out?
Hello Games hasn’t said, and it hasn’t given a year or a release window either. The official fact sheet on the Light No Fire site lists the release date as TBC, and the Steam page says it’s to be announced. There’s no price and no pre-order.
The game was revealed with an announcement trailer at The Game Awards on Dec. 7, 2023, and that trailer is still the only video on the official press page. Hello Games' own news page hasn’t posted about Light No Fire since Dec. 12, 2023, when it shared the reveal.
Which platforms is it coming to?
That isn’t confirmed. The fact sheet lists the platforms as TBC, and the only store page so far is on Steam, for Windows PC, where you can add the game to your wishlist. PS5, Xbox Series X and S and Switch 2 versions haven’t been announced. No Man’s Sky, by comparison, is on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC, and its Switch 2 Edition came out in June 2025.
Steam lists eight languages for Light No Fire, with full audio in English.
What has Hello Games been doing?
Updating No Man’s Sky. Apart from one post announcing Ghost Town Games' Stage Fright, every post on the studio’s news page since the reveal has been about its space game. The Swarm update arrived in May 2026, No Man’s Sky turned 10 on Aug. 9, 2026, and the Cosmos update, version 7.0, added claimable space stations, alliances and space bases on Sept. 9, 2026.
No Man’s Sky won Best Ongoing Game at The Game Awards 2025, and in April 2026 it became the first game to win two BAFTAs for Evolving Game.
What kind of game is Light No Fire?
Hello Games calls it a game about adventure, building, survival and exploration together, set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth. The idea is to pair a role-playing game’s depth with a survival sandbox’s freedom.
The planet is procedurally generated, with no boundaries, and full of biomes, enemies and resources. You can meet other players, put up persistent buildings and communities, or set off alone to discover places for others to find. The studio says you aren’t cast as the hero, and that the world is thick with lore and mystery and inspired by classic fantasy. Every mountain can be climbed, and you can sail oceans and rivers, ride wild beasts and fly dragons. Steam lists single-player, multiplayer and online co-op.
