Electric Ocarina of Time: HORI's $49.99 electronic ocarina for the Switch 2 remake comes out Nov. 5
The Electric Ocarina of Time is an electronic ocarina from HORI made for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. Nintendo's US store lists it at $49.99 with a Nov. 5, 2026, release, the same day as the game, and shipping from Nov. 12. As of Oct. 18, it's sold out there, and Nintendo hasn't announced a restock date. The ocarina works with the game's sound recognition feature: when you play a song, the Switch 2 picks up the sound and triggers the matching action in the game. It has a Free Play Mode for playing notes with the finger buttons and an Auto-Play Mode that plays 12 songs from the game at the press of a button, plus a volume dial and a headphone jack. Nintendo's listing says it's an electronic toy, not a real ocarina and not a game controller, and you press a button on the mouthpiece instead of blowing into it. The game, three AA batteries and a screwdriver aren't included.

There’s an ocarina you can play along with the Ocarina of Time remake. Here’s what it costs, when it comes out and how it works.
When does the Electric Ocarina of Time come out?
Nintendo’s US store lists Nov. 5, 2026, the same day The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Switch 2, with shipping from Nov. 12. It costs $49.99, and HORI makes it, according to the box and product art in Nintendo’s photos. Our Ocarina of Time remake release date page covers the game.
How the Electric Ocarina of Time works
It’s built for the game’s sound recognition feature. When you play a song on it, the Switch 2 picks up the sound and triggers the matching action in the game, according to Nintendo’s listing. Nintendo says it isn’t a game controller, so the console simply hears it.

There are two modes. Free Play Mode lets you touch the finger buttons to play notes and melodies yourself, and Auto-Play Mode plays 12 songs from the game at the press of a button, which Nintendo pitches as an easy way in for players of any experience level.
It’s not a real ocarina
Nintendo’s listing calls the Electric Ocarina of Time an electronic toy, not a real ocarina. You play it by pressing the mouthpiece button and touching the finger buttons, not by blowing into it. It has a volume dial and a headphone jack for headphones or an external speaker.

The box doesn’t include the game, the three AA batteries it runs on or a screwdriver, according to the listing.
Is the Electric Ocarina of Time sold out?
On Nintendo’s US store, yes. As of Oct. 18, 2026, it’s listed as out of stock after the store offered it for pre-order with a limit of two per order, and Nintendo hasn’t announced a restock date. Retailers manage their own stock.

You don’t need it to play. Nintendo says players can play Link’s in-game ocarina by humming or playing their own instrument into the Switch 2 system’s microphone. The Zelda Switch 2 and its accessories are sold out on Nintendo’s store too, and our Zelda Switch 2 restock page tracks them.
This page is updated as soon as Nintendo restocks the Electric Ocarina of Time or announces more details.
