Kindle+ is Kindle Unlimited with a new name: $11.99 a month, 20 borrows and audiobooks built into thousands of eBooks

Kindle Unlimited has a new name: Kindle+. Here’s what changed, what it costs and what you get for $11.99 a month.

What changed with Kindle+

Amazon updated its guide to the subscription on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, to reflect that Kindle Unlimited has been renamed Kindle+, and the sign-up page on Amazon.com carries the new name. The service keeps its shape: a monthly subscription that opens the whole catalog the moment you activate it. Every title is ready to download right away, so there are no wait lists.

In the Kindle Store, look for the Kindle+ badge on eligible books and the Read for Free button on book pages. That button signs you up and starts the book.

Kindle+ price and free trial

In the US, Kindle+ costs $11.99 a month plus taxes, the same price Kindle Unlimited had. Amazon offers a free trial to eligible accounts, and the Kindle+ page shows whether yours qualifies. You can cancel at any time.

What you get: eBooks, audiobooks, comics and magazines

The catalog holds millions of eBooks across every genre, from mystery and thrillers, romance, science fiction and fantasy to bestsellers, modern classics and nonfiction. On top of that, Kindle+ has thousands of audiobooks, comics, manga and magazines. The magazine shelf includes People, Reader’s Digest and Men’s Health.

Companion audiobooks: read and listen to the same book

The headline feature is the pairing of formats. Thousands of eBooks include companion audiobooks, so you read a chapter on the train and listen to the next one in the car, at no additional cost. Titles with narration show a headphone icon next to the Kindle+ logo.

That’s also the clearest line between Kindle+ and Audible. Kindle+ is built around eBooks with audio attached to part of the catalog, and Amazon doesn’t list an Audible membership among its benefits.

Kindle+ vs Prime

Kindle+ is a separate subscription and isn’t included with Prime. Prime members get a free book every month through Amazon First Reads and a curated selection of the Kindle+ catalog. The full catalog and the 20-title borrowing limit come with Kindle+ itself.

For a reader who finishes a book or two a month, First Reads and the Prime selection cover a lot of ground. Readers who go through several books a month, follow long series or want companion audiobooks get far more from the full Kindle+ catalog.

Devices, borrowing and canceling

You borrow up to 20 titles at a time, eBooks, audiobooks or comics alike, and return them whenever you like. There are no due dates as long as the subscription is active.

A Kindle device isn’t required. The free Kindle app runs on iOS, Android, Mac, PC and the web, and it comes on Amazon Alexa Tablets. The subscription also works on Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Colorsoft and Kindle Scribe.

To cancel, go to Manage your Kindle+ Subscription and select Cancel Kindle+ Subscription. Access lasts until your next billing date, and Amazon doesn’t refund fees already paid. Kindle+ is available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the US, the UK and many more countries and territories.

This page is updated as soon as Amazon changes the Kindle+ price, catalog or benefits.
