Genshin Impact 7.2 livestream: Friday, Oct. 23, at 8 a.m. ET, with Hour of Ruin details and redemption codes

Genshin Impact’s next version gets its first full showing at the end of the week. Here’s when the Genshin 7.2 livestream starts in every time zone, what the version is called and when we expect it in the game.

What time is the Genshin 7.2 livestream?

Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, at 8 a.m. ET, which is 7 a.m. CT, 6 a.m. MT and 5 a.m. PT. The official announcement, posted on Oct. 21, gives the time as 08:00 AM in UTC-4, the same as Eastern time, and says the special program premieres on the official Twitch and YouTube channels.

The program covers the new content and developments of Version 7.2 and drops redemption codes along the way. On YouTube, it runs as a premiere, so the full program stays up as a video for anyone who misses it live.

Genshin 7.2 livestream time around the world

In Europe, it’s a Friday afternoon show: 1 p.m. in London and 2 p.m. in Paris, Berlin and Madrid. Europe moves its clocks back on Oct. 25, two days after the program, so these times hold for Oct. 23.

In Asia, it’s Friday evening: 8 p.m. in China, Singapore and the Philippines, 9 p.m. in Japan and Korea, 7 p.m. in Jakarta and 5:30 p.m. in India. Sydney gets it at 11 p.m. Friday, São Paulo at 9 a.m. and Mexico City at 6 a.m.

Hour of Ruin: the name of Version 7.2

The official program banner reads “Version 7.2 Hour of Ruin,” over a snowy mountain scene with a group of characters. The banner and the announcement stop at the name, so the new characters, the story chapter and the events come with the program itself.

Version 7.1 took the story deeper into the north. Vesna, a 5-star Anemo sword user, arrived as a commander serving the Tsaritsa, and Vodyanitsa, a 5-star Hydro catalyst user, as the prima donna of a theater troupe. The official notes tie both to Stellar Swirl, a reaction Vesna triggers and Vodyanitsa supports.

Redemption codes in the Genshin 7.2 livestream

The official announcement promises that the program “drops” redemption codes and other goodies. Each code shows up on screen during the show, and every code works once per account. Redeem it in the game under Settings, Account, Redeem Code, or on the official redemption page, as soon as the program ends.

When does Genshin 7.2 come out?

Expected date: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET, our estimate, which is 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in China. Version 7.1 went live after maintenance on Sept. 23 at 6 a.m. China time, and the current Skirk and Escoffier wishes run until Nov. 3 at 14:59 server time, which closes out a 42-day version.

The US leaves daylight time on Nov. 1, so the update lands at 5 p.m. ET instead of 6 p.m. Update maintenance runs about five hours, as it did for Version 7.1, and HoYoverse confirms the exact date in a maintenance notice a few days before.

The Genshin 7.1 wishes until then

Phase II of Version 7.1 opened on Oct. 13 with two Cryo reruns: Skirk in Void Star’s Advent and Escoffier in La Chanson Cerise. Dahlia, Candace and Mika are the 4-star characters with a boosted rate in both, and the weapon wish features Azurelight and Symphonist of Scents. All three wishes close on Nov. 3.

Zenless Zone Zero players have their own dates to track, from Phoenix to Severian, on our ZZZ 3.3 banners page, and Honkai: Star Rail players on our HSR 4.7 release date page.

This page is updated as soon as the Genshin 7.2 special program ends, with the new characters, the codes and the official release date.
