Meta VR Glasses: Meta’s next VR device
Meta calls Meta VR Glasses its most advanced device yet. Instead of a headset with a strap, it’s a pair of glasses that weighs about 100 grams, five times lighter than the Quest 3, with open sides so you can see around you. The processor, battery and storage sit in a puck that clips to your pocket or bag and connects to the glasses by an optical tether.
Meta is pitching the glasses mainly for movies, live sports and work. They’re the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR device, with 3D movies from Disney+, Peacock, HBO Max and Paramount+, and Meta promises more than 100 immersive live sports events a year once the glasses launch, with partners including ESPN, MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports and UFC. A new hologram calling feature shows a photorealistic version of you in video calls on apps from WhatsApp to Zoom.
What the Quest 3 and Quest 3S cost now
Meta raised prices on April 19, 2026, saying VR hardware had become more expensive to build because of a global rise in memory chip prices. The new prices also apply to refurbished Quest units, while accessories kept their prices.
Meta’s store now sells the Quest 3 only with 512GB. Meta cut that model from $649.99 to $499.99 in September 2024; at launch in 2023, the Quest 3 started at $499.99 for 128GB.

FAQ
When is the Meta Quest 4 coming out?
Meta hasn’t announced a Quest 4. Its Connect 2026 announcements on Sept. 23 introduced Meta VR Glasses, which go on sale in spring 2027, but no new Quest headset.
Are Meta VR Glasses the Quest 4?
Meta doesn’t call them that. Meta VR Glasses are a separate product: glasses that weigh about 100 grams and connect by an optical tether to a pocket-sized puck that holds the processor, battery and storage. Meta calls them its most advanced device yet and still sells the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
How much will Meta VR Glasses cost?
$1,299.99 in the US. Meta says they go on sale in spring 2027 and hasn’t given an exact date.
Is the Meta Quest 3 discontinued?
No. Meta’s US store still sells the Quest 3 with 512GB at $599.99, and the Quest 3S at $349.99 for 128GB and $449.99 for 256GB.
Why did Meta Quest prices go up?
Meta raised Quest 3 and Quest 3S prices on April 19, 2026, saying the cost of building VR hardware had gone up because of a global rise in memory chip prices. The Quest 3 went from $499.99 to $599.99, and the Quest 3S now starts at $349.99, up from $299.99.
Should I buy a Quest 3 now or wait?
That depends on what you want. Meta hasn’t announced a Quest 4, so there’s no new Quest headset to wait for yet. If you mostly want to watch movies, sports and work on big virtual screens, Meta VR Glasses arrive in spring 2027 at $1,299.99, more than twice the price of a Quest 3.
