Galaxy Z TriFold 2 release date: not announced, and the first TriFold is sold out

Samsung hasn’t announced a Galaxy Z TriFold 2. The first Galaxy Z TriFold went on sale in the US on Jan. 30, 2026, at $2,899, and Samsung’s US site now says the limited-run phone is completely sold out. Samsung’s newest foldables are the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8.

When will the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 come out?

Samsung hasn’t said, and it hasn’t confirmed that a second TriFold is coming. It also hasn’t confirmed reports of a thinner design or a 2027 launch. Its summer Unpacked on July 22, 2026, was about the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8, which went on sale on Aug. 7.

The first Galaxy Z TriFold: sold out

Samsung announced the Galaxy Z TriFold on Dec. 1, 2025, with Korean sales set to begin on Dec. 12 and other markets, including China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE, to follow. In the US, it went on sale on Jan. 30, 2026, at Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores, in a single Crafted Black model with 512GB of storage.

Samsung’s US product page now says the limited-run Galaxy Z TriFold is completely sold out. In a July 2026 guide to its foldables, Samsung said it’s committed to evolving its foldable lineup, from the TriFold to the latest Galaxy Z series, but it didn’t mention a successor.

Galaxy Z TriFold specs

The TriFold folds inward twice to protect the main screen, using two differently sized hinges. Unfolded, it shows a 10-inch screen that Samsung says works like three 6.5-inch phones side by side, and it was the first phone with standalone Samsung DeX, with up to four workspaces of five apps each.

Samsung says the 5,600 mAh battery is the biggest it has put in a foldable phone, with a cell in each of the three panels, and that the main display passed a 200,000-cycle folding test, about 100 folds a day for five years.

Price: $2,899 for the first one

Samsung hasn’t announced a price for a second TriFold. The first one cost $2,899 in the US, which is about $800 more than the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and $900 more than Apple’s folding iPhone Duo, which starts at $1,999 and goes on sale on Oct. 23.

What Samsung sells instead: Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8

With the TriFold sold out, Samsung’s foldable lineup in the US is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, from $2,099.99, the Galaxy Z Fold8, from $1,899.99, and the Galaxy Z Flip8, from $1,199.99. Samsung announced all three on July 22, 2026, and they went on sale on Aug. 7 in 106 markets.
